COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The Hops of Brixton is a classic British-style extra special bitter (ESB). It starts with British Maris Otter malt for a toasty backbone that’s accented with light and dark British caramel malts, adding distinctive toffee notes. Flaked barley adds a gentle silkiness to the mouthfeel. Hops from the East Kent region of England create a floral and earthy hop profile to perfectly balance the malt. London’s calling!

On tap at the brewpub. Pours with a clear golden orange hued body with a lasting, tight off-white head. Aromas are bready, biscuity, grassy, orange, marmalade, mineral, nice earthy and floral hop character. Medium ester, good balance. Flavors are grainy, bready, estery, marmalade, medium low, but balanced bitterness. Medium carbonation, decently dry and a bit minerally in the finish.

Keg at Beachwood, Long Beach, 17/04/14. Clear golden with a moderate off white covering. Nose is biscuit malt, dark fruit rinds, bitter orange. Taste comprises more biscuit malt, light caramel, grass, fruit peel. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close. So so ESB but at least an attempt to be truer to style than most - ie not overloaded with hops!

First beer at Beachwood LB, and its a nice intro to their beer, solid malt to back up the perceived bitterness from the english hop. Maris otter is so played out.

Clear amber color with ivory head. Grainy caramel, light earthy hop aromas. Medium body. Clean grainy caramel flavors with some herbal hoppage__not bad for the style.

Pour on tap at the brewery, dark orange-red pour with thin white head, aroma brought notes of caramel, toffee, slight cherry, red fruits in there, lots of spice notes and grainy grass notes. Taste is a mix of dark toffee, caramel, slight red and dark fruits, slight spice notes, hints of earth, grass, touch of yeasty notes as well, finishing bitter, slightly sweet.

Tap at Beachwood Long Beach. Clear, deep orange amber. Wispy lacing. Nose is sweet cherry. Taste is bitter, red apple skins, honey, quite sharply red apple skin bitter/tannic. A bit metallic, sharp penny. Mild butter slickness. More tannic red apple piling on.

I had this on tap at Beachwood in Long Beach. I really enjoyed this beer. The caramel maltiness plays well with the hop flavors and, all in all, I think this is very well crafted.

This is a good mix of California and Britain. You get a nice hit of hops but the caramel and toasty sort of malts play right along and take over for a bit. A bit creamy. Would be interesting to have on nitro.

Pours a light amber color with an off-white head. Slight nuttiness along with the toast and bread malt aromas. An earthy and floral hop profile, fairly leafy. A touch of yeast in there, too. The flavor is nice and sweet. Good bread and toast malt notes, some nutty malts, and mild bitterness. Some floral hop notes with a touch of earth. Quite good.
