COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Tovarish is a bold Russian imperial stout brewed with a base of British Maris Otter barley and heaping amounts of roasted barley and specialty malts. It’s finished with a touch of blackstrap molasses along with espresso brewed with the finest Arabian Mocha-Java coffee from our friends at Peet’s. Tovarish is remarkably rich and complex. Savor the layers of roast and dark fruits with every sip.

UPDATED: FEB 15, 2015 20 oz bottle poured into tulip for #bottlecherwednesday at Beachwood in Seal Beach. Black opaque body with a light brown head that settles to a thin layer. Occasional lacing. Aroma is espresso, roasted malts, bakers chocolate, and dark fruits. Taste starts with moderately bitter coffee and nutty flavors then shows a light malty, chocolate sweetness. Medium-plus body, thick and creamy texture, moderate to soft carbonation, slightly bitter coffee ground finish.

650ml bottle enjoyed @ home, thanks to doc_absynthe. Pours pitch black with a long lasting creamy beige head. Aroma is out of this world cold brewed coffee-like, and then more coffee, vanilla, liquorice root, roasted malt and espresso Flavour is sweet and medium bitter. Full bodied, oily texture, soft carbonation. Finish is coffee acidity, turns more bitter than sweet compared to start and middle taste. Great coffee beeer.

22oz bottle pours a thick black color with a bit of a head. 2013 Batch 2 release. Rich aroma of coffee and berries. The coffee is still prominent, very smooth and not overly bitter. Berries, chocolate and plums dancing on the tongue.

Massive coffee nose. Thick black pour with a slight tan head. Velvety smooth, sweet fades to bitter chocolate cocoa and of course coffee.

Poured a dark black from the bottles with aromas of earth, chocolate, coffee and espresso. Flavors attach the aromas with some earth, roast, chocolate and espresso. Solid beer and enjoyable. It did not disappoint, thanks Jose!

At Aces and Ales Winter Beer Fest. Pours black with a brown, thick foam. This is espresso from nose to finish. I like the fact that there was no astringent bitterness. Just strong coffee and a dry finish. One of the better coffee stouts.

Dark pour. Tastes of burnt coffee and a bit of toasted malts. Wasn’t a fan but it was ok.

Dark black with dark tan head. Aroma is rich roast and espresso. Taste is strong oily espresso, almost a peppered coffee taste. Really nice stout
