On cask at the Tovarish Release. Pours with a pitch black body. Fully conditioned with a frothy and lasting brown head, great lacing. Aromas are amazing. Super fresh coconut, chewy, almond, chocolate, cocoa nibs, a bit of dark fruit, vanilla and a hint of alcohol. Flavors are extremely decadent, huge vanilla, massive fresh coconut, chewy, roast, chocolate, almonds and a bit of alcohol. Thick, velvety and coating mouthfeel, luscious, warming and amazing. Less drinkable than regular Tovarish overall, but an excellent treat to sip on!

cask pour @ Beachwood 12.01.2011. Black body with light brown foam. Awesome toasted coconut, sweet glazed almond, vanilla, deep roast aromas. Smooth rich mouthfeel. Sweet coconut, nutty almond, mild chocolate flavors on a solid deep roast stout base, nicely warming finish. A sweet stout for sure but never cloying or sticky--fantastic

On cask at Beachwood Brewery in Long Beach. Brewed with British Maris Otter barley and roasted barley, blackstrap molasses and espresso with "the finest Arabian Mocha Java coffee from our friends at Peets". Comes with a head of fine, brown sugary foam with darker specks. Head reduces to float like a layer of thick skin. Lacing covers where it sticks plus a few horizontal strings. Body is opaque black. Aroma is coconut with hints of chcolate candy recalling Almond Joy flavors with maybe a hint of booze in blending well with the rich candy. Taste is too much booze kick. Sweet and salt are prominent with a bittersweet finish. Fresh and simple yet with various flavors. Again, more like a candy bar than a traditional imperial stout. Palate is smooth with a thick, full center like Harvey’s Imperial Extra Double stout, i.e., like liquid candy. But it’s everything salty and bitter sweet _except_ licorice (unlike Harvey’s). Dry lips stick to dry glass from so much sugar residue. If coconut milk were black and fermented with carbonation, it would be this. Kind of like an over-top-top coconut porter.
