I had this on tap at Beachwood in Long Beach, CA. This brew has an excellent balance between the hops & malts, a great flavor and is quite tasty. It’s really well crafted

On tap at churchill... Pours a darker murky lighter stouty tint with reddish brown hues towards the edges and topped with a creamy barely off-white head... Lghtly roast with a decent citrus green hop profile ... Roasty with piney citrus, a touch phenolic with a bit more emphasis on the hops. Body towards the medium side with adequate semi-lively carbonation. Bitter hoppy finish.

One of my favorites of their sampler. Very dark brown, nice hop aroma. Slightly smokey on the tongue with some hop bitterness. Pretty good stuff.

Draft at PP Carlsbad. Dark brown, not quite black, with medium-small tan head. Bitter piney hops, grapefruit, roasted malt, slightly earthy, and fairly dry. Decent, but overall it’s a rather simple straight forward beer that’s really not doing much for me. I drank this along side hoppy birthday, which blew this beer out of the water.

A: Almost black with a sturdy finger of tan/khaki head and some lacing.
S: Very dank grapefruit and pine hop aromas. A touch of roast and chocolate, but it’s also just amazingly hoppy. A lot of floral notes to it as well. A light smokiness.
T: A bit of smoke, lots of roast, and lots of pine. There is a bit of grapefruit and pineapple hops to it as well. It’s quite bitter with a lot of that coming from piney hops, but a pretty good amount coming from the roasted malts, too.
M: Medium in body with a medium carbonation.
O: Very hoppy, but still a bit too much roast character for me.

On tap at the brewpub. Pours with a deep brown, near black body with a tan head. Aromas of tropical fruit, juicy, rye, roast and minimal esters. Flavors are rye, spicy, light roast. Huge amarillo/tropical fruit notes. A touch more roast than I like in the style (but I like very minimal roast). I prefer this to the Pizza Port San Clemente version. Medium to light esters, bitter balance with light resin and roast in the finish.
Really nice!
