4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 Ethereal (2399) - Los Angeles, USA - APR 18, 2008
UPDATED: JAN 1, 2009 Bottle purchased from the brewery, drunk with renffisch on 18th March 2008. Pours a dark amber with relatively little carbonation. The Brambling Cross hops give the beer a wonderful, ultra-medicinal aroma and flavour that makes it instantly recognisable. The palate is smooth and I’m really regretting only buying a half dozen bottles. I think I may have to add to this rate once I’ve drunk a few more :) Extra notes added after Eastbourne BF 2008: Challenger hops used for bittering, Bramling Cross for flavour. Roger copied this hop choice from Harveys Armada, one of his favourite beers. For the cask version "Irish Moss" is added in the copper, allowing the beer to clear without the use of finings in 3-4 days.

Cask at the White Rocks Hotel, Hastings - stated ABV 5%. Golden amber with a thin white head; aroma of fresh hay and summery hops; the flavour is full with swewet grassy malts; with a deep fresh hoppy bitterness to finish. A superb, fresh, beer - a taste of the summer downs in the middle of winter.

A Mes rate: bottle at Chris_O’s Ha Ha Ha Ha Gimme the Cheese Tasting. Flat amber. Badly bottled and pretty much out of order. I didn’t find it quite so offensive as the others but it’s clearly infected.
0.8 AROMA 1/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 1/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 2/20 thewolf (8625) - Kolding, DENMARK - APR 22, 2008
Bottle @ Chris_o.
Pours amber with next-to-no head. Aroma is very soapy - very unpleasant. Clearly infected - must try again, when the issues are settled.
