3.2 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 SilkTork (4736) - Rochester, Kent, United Kingdom, - OCT 25, 2011
500ml unfiltered bottle from local shop in Alfriston, near Eastbourne. Poured twice. Initial pour was lovely; second pour included the yeast and the profile changed completely, Provided you don’t pour in thge yeast, this is a well balanced, tasty and refreshing best bitter. A bit colour by numbers, but if what you are after is a decent, well made and traditional British bitter, then this works fine - and we don’t have too many successful bottled bitters....

11th June 2008. Frothy lively ale. Well balanced and a distinct fruity note from the hops. Watery finish lets it down a bit.

Bottle at Chris_o’s The Wolf tasting. Sorry Casper, but this bottle wasn’t good. Not a great aroma. Bit of an ugly bitter. Bit bleachy and nasty.

A Mes rate: 50cl bottle thanks to Ethereal. A very solid bitter. Lovely mid red brown colour with a very gippy off white head and lace. Really pleasing bitter hop aroma with light tobacco notes. The malt comes through a little more in the flavour finishing with more floral hops. Straight down the line but a good performer all round.
3.3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 Ethereal (2399) - Los Angeles, California, USA - OCT 1, 2007
500ml bottle from Middle Farm, East Sussex. Lots of sediment in the bottle, so you really need to be careful pouring! Hazy brown with a small frothy head. Nice malted barley aroma which is prevalent in the flavour but nicely balanced with hops. Nice smoky notes too. Excellent length with a great lingering flavour. I’ll definitely have this again.
