500ml unfiltered bottle from local shop in Alfriston, near Eastbourne. Bought during the Beachy Head Marathon weekend. Bit of a gusher, which was a concern, but the beer doesn’t taste of acid - though it doesn’t taste fresh either. Malt and hops, as expected, in a fairly traditional and fairly boring combination. This is as fairly standard as it’s possible to get for a best bitter - it is straight down the line as regards strength, colour and flavour. Best before Sept 2012, but, despite being live on the yeast, this beer past its best the day it was put in the bottle - possibly it sat around too long before bottling.

Bottle 500ml.

Clear medium yellow amber - orange colour with a large, frothy, good lacing, mostly to fully lasting, off-white head. Aroma is moderate malty, hay, malt. Flavour is moderate sweet and light bitter with a average to long duration. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft. [20120115]

Cask at Tiger Inn, East Dean: A bit hazy, copper coloured, small and lacy off-white head, moderate to solid fruity-hoppy nose with a bready touch; moderate sweet-bitter flavour, light to medium bodied, relatively soft; lingering fruity and hoppy finish. Well drinkable stuff.....
