2.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20 Derek881 (726) - Frederick, Maryland, USA - APR 14, 2011
Purchased in Ushuaia, Argentina, and poured into a low glass to drink. The beer had a black/dark brown color with a light brown hue and a very small tan head that had no retention and very little cling. The beer had a malt aroma featuring chocolate, coffee, toffee, and molasses, along with a very slight floral and grainy hops combination. Its taste was quite sweet with chocolate and molasses and a bit of a grainy sour component too. The palate was wet and a touch thin with low carbonation. A solid, decent beer, but not exceptional.

2.3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 9/20 brikelly (39) - New Hampshire, USA - APR 22, 2010
330cl bottle from a store in Ushuaia (during an awesome vacation). I was hoping for better from the Beagle company because I loved their other 2 ales that were in the same gift pack. However, this stout just wasn’t up to snuff. It’s similar to the Meantime Coffee Porter which I had recently - very heavy accents of ashes, hinting at an overly-burnt malt. Pity.
3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 ogivlado (4444) - Zagreb, CROATIA - APR 9, 2010
Bottled 350ml. -Black coloured, medium sized pale brown head, coffee nose with touch of smoke. Roasted malt (slight vinous), coffee and dark fruits with surprisingly short finish. Alcohol is not so pronounced. Pleasant Argentinian stout.
3.5 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 Rune (4924) - Tromsø, NORWAY - OCT 1, 2009
355ml bottle served at Monks Café, Sveavägen. Nice label design. After the pour has settled the beer reveals a thin, beige-brownish head and a deep, dark ruby body. Spotty lacework on the glass. Moderate, but appealing, aroma of sweet dark malts with coffee notes. Blended flavour of sweet and tart malts added by dark fruits and gently bitterness to the finish. Interesting stout that gave a sophisticated impression (Stockholm, 03.09.2009).

3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 13/20 BiddleBrau (659) - Fort Washington, Pennsylvania, USA - SEP 2, 2009
Pours jet black with thin but long lastig tan head. Aroma is strong, malty, slightly alcoholic, with fruit: plums/raisins. This bottle is a few years old but it’s still smooth. Not as rich as I expected, palate is a bit thin with active carbonation. Flavor is chocolate, slightly acidic with the plum/raisin flavors coming through. With the thinner palate I wouldn’t have guessed this to have close to 8% alc
