KingPinHead (390), Des Moines, Washington, USA Oct 21, 2002 8/14/02: Color is a fine red-amber with generous wheat-hued head...good lace...Aroma is very faint; what there is features both sweet and roasted malts. Flavors are relatively mild, with the same two-tiered malt profile dominating taste scene. Hops play third-fiddle here, mostly discerned in the finish. Moderate carbonation gives slight bite to counter malty bias. This is a restrained brew--a bit tame--but with good ingredients...Bear Creek merely needs to follow the sage advice of Chef Emeril and, as he would urge, ’kick it up a notch!’ Re-Rate 10/21/02: Aroma slightly more noticeable this time, but still faint...Other impressions hold as before---good ingredients, but toned-down to a fault...a near-miss... BillKismet (1388), Seattle, Washington, USA May 20, 2002 Autumn orange-amber hue and pours a thick head. Crisp beery flavor witha bit of a flat tasting finish--though carbonated well enough. A bland amber.
