2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 DarkElf (2961) - La Jolla, USA - SEP 3, 2005
(12 oz bottle: Bottleworks in Seattle, WA) This isn’t all that great a pale ale, but neither is it all that bad either. It’s decidedly average to me. Mildly sweet, a little caramely, malty, lightly bitter and hoppy, modest tartness and citrus, all the elements are here and in good balance, but the overall flavor is just so-so. The beer smells like typical microbrewed beer, lightly malty, lightly hoppy, balanced, and generic. Medium bodied, fairly clean on the palate. Dark straw in color with a slight haze to it. The whitish head pours to half an inch in height, and thins to a small ring. Just not grabbing me.

12oz bottle. Medium orange gold color. Medium sized white foamy head. Aroma is fruity and sweet. A medium bodied Pale Ale. Malts are fruity and sweet. Hops are grapefruit and citrus. A medium bodied APA. Crisp and sweet. Light and refreshing. Interesting, there was a near cloying sweetness when this beer was first opened, but faded to a crisp malt flavor. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is slightly sweet.
2.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20 Sham (1846) - Seattle, Washington, USA - DEC 15, 2004
Light copper with a thin white head and big spots of lace. Nose of flowery hops along with bitter hops. Some hints of caramel, but not a lot of malts are present in the aroma. Flavor contains a strong bitterness. It pretty much drowns out everything else. A little roast eeks through. The body is there but the lingering bitter palate quickly diminishes all else. It finishes, you guessed it, bitter.
3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 BückDich (5468) - McCall, Idaho, USA - DEC 12, 2004
Particles suspended in a matrix of honey with fairly average head/lacing. Light grassy hops and a bit of malts. Unbalanced flavor leaning more towards bitter. More hops apparent in the tail but not all around an impressive pale ale.

Dark yellow, alost amber. Hoppy aroma of mostly resin accented by sticky malts nd fruit. A pretty harsh bitterness on the finish that is reminiscent of eating dandelions. The quality and quantity of the bitterness seem screwy.
3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 Murphy (1759) - Fort Collins, Colorado, USA - FEB 9, 2004
Good bitterness that floats throughout the palate. Medium bodied. An excellend representation of this style, it wasn't a pale that was basically trying to be an IPA if that makes any sense.
