Magjayran (1379), Durham, North Carolina, USA May 15, 2009 I needed a hop bomb and this delivered. On tap at Sugar Maple in Milwaukee. Aroma is super hoppy with citrus taking the lead over pine trees. I’ve noticed there’s almost a house aroma/flavor of pine with everything these guys do. Bitter citrus and pine with just the faintest asprin finish. Caramel malts all in between. I’d love to try this one again. holdenn (1431), Chicago, Illinois, USA May 15, 2009 On cask at DOLA 09. Pours a clear orange with a soapy white head. Aroma of citrus and hops. Somewhat buttery. Bitter citrus fruit flavors with caramel malts. The bitter and sweet have a strange balance that is kind of off. Odd, but not necessarily bad. GeneralGao (3051), Iowa City, Iowa, USA May 10, 2009 Draft at Sunset Grill. Poured a clear medium orange color. The head was off white and left a tenacious sheet of lace on the glass. Citrusy nose, particularly distinct orange. Medium bodied and slightly sweet with mild to moderate bitterness. Similar to the nose, there was a distinct orange flavor which was supported by a pleasant malty caramel note. redlem (1155), Illinois, USA May 6, 2009 Cu hazy color- medium white head- grassy, pine aroma-reminds me of Amarillo hops- bitter finish-long lasting-memorable. jonno (538), Brisbane, Australia Apr 30, 2009 Had two of these on draft at Thrash Zone. Poured a beautiful unfiltered, light orange. Solid nose of citus. Body was full with a strong grapefruit flavour. Very easy drinking and quite full on. Perhaps a bit too muddled to be a classic, but definately a brew from a great brewery. chuwy (21), Japan Apr 28, 2009 Wow. Quite a beer. Heavy body taste and a tiny bit grapefruit sour with a tinge of pineapple? Got a bit of syrup from malts and hops on the Tongue but again laced with grapefruit juice. Seemed higher than the 8% the barman told me. On tap at Thrash Zone. Nice pint. Not my favourite DIPA. But I can see how this may appeal to hopheads. Just burped and man, the flavor came back. Nice! A good beer. Just wish it was less ’sour’. Still, a very nice DIPA. nickd717 (1276), Palo Alto, California, USA Apr 27, 2009 On tap at Red Restaurant in Santa Cruz. May have faded a bit since I think it was brewed a few months ago. Pretty good stuff though. Orangish amber color with an off-white head. Piney hop and sweet malt aroma. Flavor is caramel malt with strong citrusy hops on the finish, starfruit and pineapple. Palate average for a DIPA, a little oily. alexanderj (2212), Chino Hills, California, USA Apr 19, 2009 On tap at Stone. Color was dark orange. Aroma of earthy and piney hops; with a bit of bread and caramel. Flavor was much of the same. A pretty solid amount of bitterness. A nice beer.
