Apex: The highest point, the culmination or climax. In racing, the apex of the turn is approached differently as conditions dictate but always with a forward looking mindset. This beer is the culmination of years of brewing and drinking hop forward IPAs. Growler from Consumers Beverages (Transit Road). Slightly hazy slightly amberish gold pour, average lasting off-white creamy-foamy head. Interesting aroma - quite a lot of oily cereal grain - sort of halfway between canola and rye - with a strong overlay of grapefruit hops - I think thereís a fair bit of alcohol in there, but I canít make it out over the dominant grain/bitterness. Wow, I really dig the taste of this - it delivers exactly what the aroma promised, but the citrus hops slide right to the front, and the alcohol asserts itself more - itís not huge, but it is quite hop-forward, and the grain/malt backbone is there for minimal structure. Chewy, dry, slightly boozy mouthfeel, lightly carbonated, with a long, dry, citrus zest/pith finish ... I look forward to drinking this bastard dry! *** later note - this beer has, oddly, a little of that house character of the Dugganís beers here in Toronto - the cereal grain seems a bit toasty and sulfur-like - nothing unpleasant, perhaps itís the water?

Had at Caponeís. Pours a clear orange. Aroma is a nice hop balanced with some hints of bread. Flavor is mild bitter hops. Smooth and delicious.

Draught > Gingerman. Typically I loved all of BRís beers but I thought this one was lacking. For an IIPA it actually seemed very balanced to me. Iíll try again though.

Great Imperial IPA. Perfect blend of hops. Beautiful bright color and great aroma. On tap at Iron Abbey.

A golden amber IPA with a thin white head. A pleasant sweet hops aroma with wafting alcohol and light maple notes. In mouth, a surprisingly smooth citrusy hops in mouth, with light smokeyness, maple wood, quite nice. On tap at J. Ryans, May 2, 2010.

Pale transparent amber with a few fingers of white head. Aroma is nice, floral and piney, with a touch of juicy citrus. Flavor has oranges, floral citrusy hops, a bit too sticky with medium sweetness. Finish has hoppy bitterness and is a touch too sweet.

UPDATED: FEB 24, 2011 On draft at Caponeís. Sticking with the theme of California IPAs on this evening, Consumed while Roy Hallyday was pitching a perfect game on the barís TV set. I noticed after 3 innings that he had a no-hitter going, and I made a joke about it. To be honest I wasnít paying much attention to it, but now I can finally say I saw a perfect game! So, moving from one apex to another. This was hoppy, but with a good malt presence. Fairly sweet, mild, floral IPA. It tasted pretty different the second time I had it - softer and mellower - but still a fine brew.

Clear orange yellow pour with a thin fluffy white head. Mild aroma with floral, citrus and ginger notes. Sweet and watery flavor. Some hops with a bitter finish. Underwhelming.

On tap at Pizza Plant Transit, post-extreme beer fest. Alcohol aroma, golden colour, lots of white ace, some white head. Medium mouthfeel. 100+ IBU, and really tasty, but somewhat of a palate shreddy. Good drinkability.

Nose is Tap @ Coleís. Toasty malt, bubblegum hops - very 3 Floyds-ish with orange and mango. Flavor is bubblegum hops, candied lemon peel, light toasted malt. Amazing bubblegum hop finish. Great stuff!
