3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
On draught at Mellow Mushroom in Dublin. The beer is a mostly clear tangerine color with a medium thick white head that recedes slowly. Rings of lacing on the glass. Aroma of floral hops, citrus and malt. Medium body with flavors of citrus hops, bready malt and caramel. The finish is hoppy with a zesty citrus aftertaste. Above average IPA overall.

On tap at hop angel. Hoppy aroma, pine. Strong, overwhelming bitterness, fresh hops. No malt balance. Very one dimensional.

Aargh - Iím a fan of hops but this really melted the roof of my mouth off. Looks fine for a DIPA, head is a little subdued. This beer is about seriously aggressive hops - pine primarily, some citrus backup. Itís frankly just too much and way out of balance.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Draft at Firkin... Dark clear gold with a thick creamy tope head, great retention... The nose is really dead, a bit of sweet malt no hops, good but boring... First sip this is super bitter and alcoholic for only 7.5%, dies down a bit after awhile but still too piney, lots of oranges and pine... Ok but tough to drink, racer 5 and hop rod are so much better

Tap. Pour is a deep clear copper with a thin white head. Aroma is light rye-like malt and a clean mostly piny hop character with hints of citrus. Flavor also lightly spicy malt and pine hop. Clean and easy to drink.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 15/20
Draft. Pour is bright gold with a good white head with good retention. Aroma is lots of citrus, starfruit/grapefruit hoppiness with some lemon and grass in there. Taste is very nice: lots of starfruit/lemons with a good malt balance. Not overly sweet and no astringency. Palate is oily, average carbonation, medium body. Iím a much bigger fan of this than Racer 5.
