Serving: bottle. It pours a slightly hazy amber color with a fairly large off white head. Nice hoppy nose with strong citrus and pine notes. The flavor follows suit with lots of pine resin and over ripe citrus fruit. Light malt notes that quickly get washed away. Fairly dry finish with a lingering bitterness. Nice west coast style action.

Bear and IPA go like butter n popcorn? A match made in heaven. They rewrote the Stone handbook on west coast ipa. Don’t try to beat them....you will lose.

4.3 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Super rich deep copper and bronzed coloured body with a rich orange glow and a pale three centimetre tall head - this is what you want an Imperial IPA to look like! Aroma of grapefruit, oranges, curacao, pine, rich malt, alcohol and way more fruit - apricots, peaches and grapes, very pungent in hop smell and a very intoxicating aroma. Medium to Full-bodied; Strong rich pungent and dank hop flavours with the grapefruit and pine the strongest and a deep malt note to balance out the tons of hops - all with a subdued fruit flavour at the end. Aftertaste has a ridiculously smooth balance of malt and hops, but of course, the centre of the flavours is around the pungent hopping with grass, herbs and pine noticeable and a touch of resin coupled with the sweetness at the very end. Overall, a very nice Imperial IPA - perhaps one of the best I’ve had, with a rich, but not overwhelming flavour and depth - great to sample, definitely get it if you like the style and can find it! I sampled this 65 cL bottle purchased from Whole Foods in Washington (Foggy Bottom), DC on 24-February-2014 for US$8.99 sampled at home in Washington on 28-May-2014.

4.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Pours a bright medium orange with a one finger off white head with pretty nice lacing. Aroma is of citrus, pine, tropical fruits, sweet malts, tropical fruits (mainly pineapple), caramel, grassy hops and some light dank hops. Taste is pretty similar to the aroma but also has more sweet malts and some green onion flavor. Has a medium-full body with a semi creamy mouthfeel and a slightly dry, moderately bitter, medium-long finish. Overall, a pretty tasty DIPA that might a tad too malty for my tastes.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
U.S. rating #1000! Bottle from Gator Beverage. Pours beautiful clear orange gold with a big fluffy slightly off white head. Lots of citrus on the aroma, mango, orange peel, grapefruit zest, pineapple, with sweetness in the backdrop from the malts. Flavor is mango grapefruit up front with a surprising punch of rich fruity caramel malts throughout. Big body, resinous, with medium prickle on the carbonation. Nearly syrupy and I was hoping for a brighter hop profile with a more subdued malt backbone. Nonetheless this is yummy.
