Growler from Consumers Beverages (Transit Road). Slightly hazy slightly amberish gold pour, average lasting off-white creamy-foamy head. Interesting aroma - quite a lot of oily cereal grain - sort of halfway between canola and rye - with a strong overlay of grapefruit hops - I think there’s a fair bit of alcohol in there, but I can’t make it out over the dominant grain/bitterness. Wow, I really dig the taste of this - it delivers exactly what the aroma promised, but the citrus hops slide right to the front, and the alcohol asserts itself more - it’s not huge, but it is quite hop-forward, and the grain/malt backbone is there for minimal structure. Chewy, dry, slightly boozy mouthfeel, lightly carbonated, with a long, dry, citrus zest/pith finish ... I look forward to drinking this bastard dry! *** later note - this beer has, oddly, a little of that house character of the Duggan’s beers here in Toronto - the cereal grain seems a bit toasty and sulfur-like - nothing unpleasant, perhaps it’s the water?

Draught > Gingerman. Typically I loved all of BR’s beers but I thought this one was lacking. For an IIPA it actually seemed very balanced to me. I’ll try again though.

A golden amber IPA with a thin white head. A pleasant sweet hops aroma with wafting alcohol and light maple notes. In mouth, a surprisingly smooth citrusy hops in mouth, with light smokeyness, maple wood, quite nice. On tap at J. Ryans, May 2, 2010.

Pale transparent amber with a few fingers of white head. Aroma is nice, floral and piney, with a touch of juicy citrus. Flavor has oranges, floral citrusy hops, a bit too sticky with medium sweetness. Finish has hoppy bitterness and is a touch too sweet.

UPDATED: FEB 24, 2011 On draft at Capone’s. Sticking with the theme of California IPAs on this evening, Consumed while Roy Hallyday was pitching a perfect game on the bar’s TV set. I noticed after 3 innings that he had a no-hitter going, and I made a joke about it. To be honest I wasn’t paying much attention to it, but now I can finally say I saw a perfect game! So, moving from one apex to another. This was hoppy, but with a good malt presence. Fairly sweet, mild, floral IPA. It tasted pretty different the second time I had it - softer and mellower - but still a fine brew.

Clear orange yellow pour with a thin fluffy white head. Mild aroma with floral, citrus and ginger notes. Sweet and watery flavor. Some hops with a bitter finish. Underwhelming.
