On tap at Bear Republic. What a wonderful DIPA. Intense aromatic hops, good mouthfeel, beautiful lacing, rich orange-golden color.

Tap @ Capital Ale Downtown. I may have found a new favorite. I always like their Racer 5. Clean big hops + long hop finish. Perfumey stuff comes up as it warms. Like Ruination, my current favorite. I think I’ll have to have them side by side- more than once- just to be sure...

Tap at their brew pub. A great D-IPA! I think highly of Racer 5, and for me, this is a high water mark for D-IPAs like Racer 5 is for IPAs. Great hop presence, bitter is kept in balance and a wonderful color.

Sampled on draft at the House of 1000 Beers this beer poured a hazy orange-amber color with a medium sized foamy orange-white head that lingered and left great lacing. The aroma was very strong orange, moderate lemon, pine, pineapple and grapefruit. The flavor was sweet and tangy caramel, honey, strong orange and grapefruit and moderate lemon, pineapple and pine. The finish was very long and sweet with honey, orange and grapefruit lingering. Thick and full body. Wonderful!

Growler from Craft Ale, and a pint at Capone’s, my two current favorite beer hangouts. The pour is dark straw, more toward gold than brown, with 1-finger of well retained off-white head. The nose is heavy piney hops, caramel malt, some fruit, peppery spice, tangerine. Tastes assertively hoppy with a good malt balance, and some finishing fruit. Well incorporated alcohol makes this one very easy to drink, and a damned fine IIPA. Give me another growler of this one any day of the week, and twice when my wife isn’t around.

Another fantastic IPA from the west coast! Not to diss our folks from the east, though! This delicious beer starts off with an inviting pour with notes in the aroma of pine, grapefruit, oranges and of course hops. The flavors are bitter, spicy, dry and balanced very nicely with just the right amount of earthy malts.

GABF 2007. A very good beer. Suprised @ the 66% rating. Smooth and drinkable for a IIPA w/ a hoppy, piney bite. Very good.

On tap at the Publick House in Boston. Red orange color slight head and nice lace. Noticeable grapefruit malt and hop bitter aroma. Citrus, grapefruit, and hops dominate flavor. Balanced aftertaste

UPDATED: APR 29, 2010 2009 Boulder Strong Ale Festival: Rusty hue. Rich caramel malts with flowery and zingy aromas. Sweetness made me think of Fruity Pebbles cereal. Juicy caramel apple as well. Nip of hop bitterness was nice. Solid and tasty double IPA. RERATE, on tap at Oskar Blues Home Made Liquids & Solids: Incredible beer. Seemed much better than my GABF sample. Uber hoppy, but with a perfect amount of bitterness. Citrusy goodness.

I really liked this beer. I had it out of the tap. It had strong hop bitterness yet easy to drink
