22oz bomber. Newly released and distributed. Elegant aromas of citrus, papaya, mango, honey, and florals. Awesome! Good weight and mouthfeel, with fuller texture and soft, creamy carbonation. Balanced bitterness compliments flavors of citrus, pine, papaya, mango, and florals, with a hint orange sweetness. My new favorite seasonal release from Bear Republic. Good stuff. --- tasted while on a long journey to understand the world around me...

Pours orange-amber with a thick off white head. Aroma is sweet pineapple & tropical fruits - fruit punch. Taste is sweet tropical fruits up front followed by really nice bitterness for a long finish - there’s a faint hint of honeydew in the finish too. For a DIPA, this one seems really well balanced. Alcohol not present at all. Good job!

Clear light copper under a rocky white head. Big resiny piney nose cut by some semi-sharp grapefruit zest and hoppy caramel. Flavor is sublimely balanced, more so than I would have thought by the nose. It’s got a wonderful floral resiny hop character, with some bitter grapefruit rind and a strong backbone of caramel malt and amber malt. Some light toffee and biscuitiness as well, but under plenty of resiny and semisweet leafy/grassy hops. A sublime DIPA with balance and complex hops.

one of the better brews in the dipa fest, though not quite at the top. every hoppy beer BR has done has been quite good, and this one’s no exception. big citrus and pine with just enough malt to not be a palate wrecker. a touch thicker than Racer 10."

Oh man, I thought the Racer 5 was their benchmark, but then I started sampling some of their other IPAs and Double IPAs. This brewing company knows how to work with hops. This one was syrupy sweet, and bitter. Very smooth and drinkable. We were confused by the menu discription - the apex is the top... what does that mean??? But when it arrived, it was all hops. So good. It struck me as sublty different than the Mach 10, a more timid version perhaps?

Tap at Capones. Pours a nice somewhat clear orangey amber with a nice massive lasting whtie sticky head- good palce as well. Aroma is very fresh- tons of PNW hops- fresh this years batch of Columbus- piney gritty, sappy, and almost has a raw weed- very skunky in a good way with hints of mint to the hops. Flavor is also packed with citrus and piney hops with hints of mint and week, very raw, slight earth, ok caramel sweetness just for a backbone, but the mid palate and finish are just a shit ton of raw hoppy bitterness that has some serious power to it- very resinous. Awesome.

Growler from Big Z. Aroma of unbelievably fresh and popping piney, perfumy, and citrus-oil hops, bready malt. Flavor again of bready malt with all sorts of crazy hop notes, fruitier in the mouth, almost like some sort of perfumy, fruity candy that i can’t put my finger on. Still unbelievably oily, sappy even, and. Big bitter finish. Gulpable, medium-body for a DIPA. When Bear Republic gets their hops right, they get them dead on. How is this a 45.6 in style?

22oz bottle, pours golden copper and maintains a small head. Big oily hop grapefruit nose followed by pine. Big hop flavors, more grapefruit and orange mixed well the malts. Good mouthfeel. Bitter citrus finish, very cleansing. Qualifies to me as a Dbl IPA.. Very good!
