Draught at Churchills Pub and Grille, San Marcos, California. Hazy amber/brown beer with a nice lasting beige head. Malty fruity aroma, woody, vanilla, raisins, caramel, bourbon, figs, plums, biscuits, some spicy notes. Fruity woody flavor, grapes, raisins, figs, bourbon, vanilla, citrus notes, toffee, cream, some warming alcohol. Quite nice but rather fruity.

Draught @ Ginger Man. Dark brown with svery small beige foamy head, very little whisky aroma, low carbonation, sweetish whisky dominated caramel taste, longish finish with alcohol aftertaste. Quite strong but smooth.

Tap today @ Barcade with Erica/Stiffler/Kayla. Pours dark brown and muddy. Good boozy taste with some sweet/salty caramel notes. It’s also tart, awesome. Big fan of this beer. Moderate viscosity enables it to deliver the rich flavors but not overly heavy.

On tap at Capitol Beer & Tap Room. Pours dark brown with a rich tan head and a smoky brown ale and whiskey aroma. There is a medium-bodied smoked malt flavor with a vanilla and whiskey finish.

Tap at The Cork and Craft. Pours opaque brown with a medium, creamy tan head, medium retention with good lacing. Aroma is sweet bread and caramel malt, dates, nutty notes, light peat and moderate bourbon. Flavor is moderate bourbon, light vanilla and oak, sweet malt, dates and a sweet finish. Full body and medium carbonation.

On tap at Pizza Port OB. Pours a clear copper with no head. Aroma is oak bourbon. Some sweet malt. Flavor is slightly tart malty caramel. Really nice.

On tap @ Bear Republic Brewery. Aroma is red wine, plums, barrel wood and toffee. Appears a crimson/amber with a thin foam head. Taste is port wine, grapes, sugared caramel, barrel wood, plums and biscuit. Overall, this was pretty well done.

On draft at Tap Room 307. Not much aroma. Lots of whiskey in the flavor, and a bit astringent. A little lighter than expected. Pretty good.

A: The beer pours a dark amber color with a finger or so of off-white head.
S: Rather sweet with a nice maltiness to it. Good toast, toffee, and caramel with a mild oakiness and bourbon aroma. Some dark fruit notes and brown sugar. A touch of dark malt in there, too.
T: A mild roasted malt flavor up front. Toast, bread, toffee, and caramel provide a nice sweetness. The oak flavor is a bit more pronounced than anticipated, and there is some sweet bourbon and vanilla in the background.
M: Medium to full in body with a moderate level of carbonation.
O: Not a ton of barrel influence, but a nice bit of oak and whiskey to it.

On tap at Pizza Port Carlsbad’s Barrel Blast. Pours with a clear bronze body and no head. Aroma is fruity, leather, raisins and plums. Flavors are fruity, cotton candy, caramel, and raspberries. Essentially flat. Syrupy with extremely low carbonation.
