3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
22oz bottle. Pours a deep black color with a thick rising creamy tan head. The aroma consists of chocolate, caramel, coffee & cream, roasted malt and hops. Up front the sweet flavors of cocoa powder introduce themselves, with a hoppy bite that comes through the middle which contributes some to the alcohol bite. Finish tastes of sweet chocolate and has a roasted malt bitterness. Full-bodied and slightly sharp on the tongue.

This is a wonderful chocolatey stout! Nice and thick body, a slight amount of bitters which enhances the rich, chocolate aroma. This is an excellent stout which doesn’t overpower the senses. Definitely one of my favorites!

Pours so black even light doesn’t pass through...very opaque with a medium tan head. Aroma is coffee and chocolate. Taste is smooth up front, chocolate, then coffee tailing off into coffee ground bitterness. A very well built stout.

Bomber bottle poured deep dark brown w/ a medium creamy tan head. Medium aromas of roast, licorice, and dark fruit. Initial flavor is light sweet w/ a moderate bitter finish. Tastes are big roast on top of tasty complex notes of dark chocolate, rye bread, licorice, molasses, coffee, and dried prunes. Full bodied, creamy mouthfeel, light carbonation, slightly boozy finish.

Draft at Moriartys. Tulip. Pitch black pour with a large tan head. Liquorice. Cold coffee. Bitter chocolate. Ashtray. Black jelly beans. Molasses. Good strong Imperial Stout with some dark fruit hiding underneath. Raisins. Prunes. More syrupy than creamy. Still a good example of an Imperial.

Bottle from triangle wine company. Pours black with a thin khaki head. Leaves some lacing in the glass. Has a hint of chocolate on the nose. Kind of hoppy on the tongue. Finishes clean. Solid but not my favorite interpretation of the style.

Poured from a bottle, San Diego. Hearty aroma of roasted malt with some depth. Dark stout body, strong head. Sweet and gentle with a bit of character, but not a harsh or strong beer. A very solid stout.
