Big Bear is a big, black, stout you can really sink your teeth into. The bold, roasty, caramel malt flavor is balanced by Centennial and Cascade hops. 2009 California State Fair – 2nd GOLD 2009 LA International Beer Competition – GOLD 2007 Great American Beer Festival® American-Style Stout – SILVER 2002 World Beer Cup - GOLD

Smells very hoppy with lots of chocolate and caramel malt. Flavor is similar. Thick body, lots of chocolate malt with good hops for balance. Not my favorite imperial stout, but good.

From Magnum Wines, Swindon, a pint bottle, pours with a diminishing tan head, faint aroma of milk chocolate. Taste is sweetish with little roasted caramel with a slight hop bitterness on the finish. Good but not complex enough for a beer of this strength.

Smells chocolatey and toasty. Pours dark brown with a minimal head. Nice flavor, really smooth and toasty with a an alcohol finish.

Muito arrumada essa Stout. Álcool não pega, seca e refrescante. Ainda rolou aproveitar uma 50ml para fazer um brownie.

Day after Halloween and its a cold day for Florida, and a nice stout is finally a decent seasonal choice. Dark brown, near black. Small head. Aroma is dense with caramel and chocolate, flavor is similar leading to bitter coffee undertones at the finish. Herbal or grassy hop at the finish. Rich and smooth palate.

Pours a nice black with a thin tan head. Small bubbles lacing the glass. The aroma is thin but I pick up some smoke and a hint of fruitiness. The taste is good with a berry like flavor up front followed by bitter chocolate. Not much depth and a bit thin but good.

"this can be a great beer...as high as 4.5 or better, and as low as a 3 due to inconsistencies with BR. Don’t know if they’re not capped tight enough or not refridgerated properly at the stores, but I’ve had too many spoiled Red Rockets and Big Bears, which is too bad, because this one is BIG indeed! 6/10-on tap. still very good, but still slipping just a bit from it’s early high perch. downgrade 0.1 to a 4.2."

On tap. Pitch black with a frothy tan head. Aroma is dark chocolate, roasted malts, the typical flavors you’d expect but also some nutmeg and spice character. Flavor is lots of chocolate and cinnamon. Shocking amount of cinnamon character. Roasted coffee bitterness in the finish. Seriously good this.

Pours black with a generous finely bubbled tan head with wet lacing. Aroma is slightly roasted malts ; cocoa and bakers chocolate. Taste is similar to the nose with a bit more roast, cocoa sweetness and some mild finishing bitterness. Super smooth and drinkable. The 8.1% is well -hidden. Not as deep and rich as some imperial, but I could drink a few of these. Excellent.
