3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 TimE (2065) - Tokyo, JAPAN - MAY 26, 2012
Dark brown color. Lots of spicy hops and roasted malts in the nose. Hoppy mouth with considerable amounts of roastiness. Well balanced. Fun, but serious at the same time. Like so much from BR the beer can be just mediocre or good, but the balance is so well executed that it just makes the ordinary extraordinary.
3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 jonno (1454) - JAPAN - MAY 19, 2012
Excellent BIPA. Lovely tropical fruit nose. Good body. Nice balance - much like Racer 5. Chocolate, a little roast and some big citrus flavours. A little bit too astringent for me in the aftertaste, but otherwise top notch.

3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 Nik925 (639) - California, USA - FEB 24, 2012
Average IPA with some porter flavors. Bear could have done much better. This is a weak entry into the BIPA category for them, esp. since they have such awesome IPAs.
3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20 Butters (3013) - Richmond, Virginia, USA - FEB 16, 2012
Sampled at the Raleigh Rare and Vintage Festival. Good looking Dark brown pour with decent tan head. The nose was a very crisp hoppiness, with an almost ’burnt’ quality. Flavor was bitter and extremely roasty, overroasted in my opinion. Lingering bitterness on the tail. Pretty good, but I’ve had better.

On draft at Tap 25. It pours dark brown with a tan head. The aroma has lots of coffee and citrus. The flavor is heavy on the citrus and lighter notes of roasted coffee beans. A bit of fruitiness comes in before a big roasted finish. A very good black IPA.
