3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 15/20
A vigorous pour into my New Belgium goblet produces a three finger thick, lightly brown tinged, dark tan colored head. The beer is a concentrated brown, not quite black colored head. The aroma smells of vibrant, fruity hops and toasted / roasted malt character; lychee, guava, and candied tangelo zest, which is backed by whole grain, toasted brown crackers, coffee liquor, and bitter roasted character.
The beer has ample hop flavors with lots of lychee, floral concentrated peach notes, burnt tangerine character, Curacao orange peel, a touch of herbaceous pine character, as well as a firm bitterness that is accentuated by the smooth roast character. Lingering, though light, roast notes, some whole grain brown bread (amply toasted of course), and a wholesome, slightly burnt cracker character. The body is nice and light, thought it does have some heft to it, enough to carry the vibrant hop character at least.
This is quite a nice Black IPA; the hop character is quite vibrant, fruit laden, and just expansive, with just enough dark malt character to support the hops, but not get too intrusive. This is really just fresh and hoppy, and I am enjoying this quite a bit more than I expected.

3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 14/20
Poured at The Top in Gainesville. Black pour with super thin white head. Aroma of dark roasted malt and pine hops. Pretty straight forward aroma. Flavor follows aroma exactly, buy with a thickness to the beer I was not expecting. Hops cut through the thick, somewhat chocolatey, malt making it pretty easy drinking. Nicely done black ipa, but outside of Wookey Jack this style can only excite me so much.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
22 oz bottle from Wilburs. Almost black with a tan head and lacing. The aroma is roasted malts and citric hops. Similar flavor, pretty straightforward with medium bitterness and a piney finish. Medium body with a soft creamy feel. Good but slightly disappointing.

3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
22 ounce bottle. Poured a dark brown to black with a lighter beige head of dense foam. Good retention. Aroma is piney, herbal, and catty. Taste has a burnt roast note to it on top of an herbal, leafy bitterness that rounds out the finish. For the abv of the beer, the alcohol is hidden very well.

4.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
This is just Nice. Capital N. hoppy aroma -- and maybe even a hint of sweetness on the nose too? Solid malty even roasty backbone, with a perfect infusion of hops and its requisite bitterness. Black IPAs are one of my favorite styles, and you absolutely cannot go wrong with this particular specimen.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bomber to pint (shared with the Mrs.). Looks good; a dark cola with beige head that dissipates into lacing. Smells and tastes solid; hoppy with notes of dark malt and roast. Good on the palate. Good beer.

3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
for some reason, this didn’t quite gel with me .. . deep brown .. . mild rickets of foam .. . medium mild roast and burnt grass (not the good kind) .. . a touch soapy on the finish .. . rather mundane .. . . i’m a dropout cub scout, i cheated on my knots and never carried a first aid kit...

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
22oz bomber. As soon as the top was cracked I could smell yummy hops. It pours nice and dark with a full dark tan head of foam. The aroma offers up pine hops and some citrus hops as well as lighter notes of dark roasted malts and dark chocolate. The taste is right there! Yum. I get a pleasing fairly rich grapefruit like citrus hop flavor and bitterness that rolls into a mix of chocolate malts, dark roasted malts and then just the right amount of burnt malts. It only grows in citrus hop bitterness to midway as resiny pine hops join in and then into the finish the hops sweeten up just a tad to add little bit fuller mouth feel. Darn tasty stuff from one of my favorite breweries.

Pours pitch black, with an off white, one finger head. Spicy pine hops on the nose. That same piney bitterness carries the roasted malt nicely, and the finish is bitter dark, roasted malts. Very well done, extra points for great lacing
