22oz bottle. Pours clear dark ruby black with a medium creamy brown head that dissipates with nice lacing. Aroma is hoppy - grapefruit, touch of pine and some underlying coffee. Flavor is definitely IPA - citrus hoppy with underlying roasted malts, perhaps molasses. Lightly sweet and medium bitter. Medium body, slightly oily mouthfeel. Quite nice.

Serving: 22 oz. bottle from State Line Liquors. It pours jet black with a dense tan head. The nose has big, piney hops and a strong roasted malt note. Those piney hops blast you on the tongue along with a slight earthiness, but give way to slight burnt and dark, roasted malt notes. A slight black coffee note emerges as it warms. Dry and lasting finish. Very well done and recommended.

On tap at Falling Rock in June. Pours black with small amber head and some lace. Aroma of floral hops, burnt malts, rich malts. Moderate mouthfeel and carbonation. Flavors of dark roasted malts, coffee, carob, dark chocolate. Overall very tasty, full bodied, rich with some bitter notes. Lovely overall.

The flavor mimics the positive aroma. The malt is dark in flavor, but without any burnt elements. I’m reminded of unsweetened cocoa (no milk). The bitterness is more pronounced in the swallow and lasts a while in the aftertaste, but it isn’t overbearing. The body leans to the thin side, but the carbonation is appropriate. Overall, this is an extremely well-crafted, well-balanced beer. It would be very easy to keep drinking this one all afternoon.

Really dark brown with basically zero head. Aroma of roast, molasses, pine, and toffee. The taste is very slightly sweet, substantially roasty, and moderately bitter. Medium bodied, below average carbonation. Decent, but well below expectation for this brewery.

Bottle:   Deep cola, moderate frothy tannish head, nice lacing.   Pale roast, slight lactose, with some pasture like bitterness on the nose.   Smooth sweet and roasty hoppiness on the tongue.   Thankfully the pasture doesn’t come across on the tongue, only pale roast and some sweet citrusy hops.   Moderate to full body and mouthfeel.   Nice balance, a sweeter example which is great with the roasted malts.   Enjoyable!

From a bomber. Pours opaque dark brown with a foamy off white head. Smells smokey, sweet, with hints of raisin, toffee, and spice. Tastes toasted, smokey, dry, bitter, and earthy. Low/medium body and carbonation.

Bottle. Pours deep, dark brown with frothy beige head. Aroma is roasted malts, milk chocolate, toffee, dates, figs, and light earthy hops. Flavor is balanced roast malts and rich, earthy hops with some faint cocoa dryness and faint dark fruit esters; dry finish with some bitterness. Medium body and carbonation.

From a bomber, pours jet black with a small white head, aroma of roasty chocolate malts with a nice piney hop presence, with some citrus tang coming through. Carbonation average. Finish is well balanced, bitter but crisp, very moreish. Great beer.
