3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle:   Deep cola, moderate frothy tannish head, nice lacing.   Pale roast, slight lactose, with some pasture like bitterness on the nose.   Smooth sweet and roasty hoppiness on the tongue.   Thankfully the
pasture doesnít come across on the tongue, only pale roast and some sweet citrusy hops.   Moderate to full body and mouthfeel.   Nice balance, a sweeter example which is great with the roasted malts.   Enjoyable!

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle from City Beer. Pours near black with a thick tan head and a citrus and treacle aroma. There is a smooth dark molasses and pine flavor with a dry finish. Sweeter than many other black IPAs.

Flavors of dark roast moderate dark malt sweetness herbal floral hops in moderation and more dry dark roast. Medium body like a light imperial stout. Interesting take on black ipa.

Cask. Pours dark brown with a beige head. Citric hoppy aroma with light floral notes and sweet malts. The flavor has citric and flowery hops, light malty sweetness, and some lightly roasted malts. Very easy to drink and very well balanced.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle. Definitely black, but IMHO not anywhere in the same league as the other Racer brands. Full disclosure, Iím not a big fan of the "black IPA" rage thatís going on. This is yet another example. Rich with some rich, bitter chocolate malt, the assertive hoppiness doesnít exactly go a long way to blend in, at least as far as Iím concerned. Drinkable enough, I guess, but I rather have had a porter or an IPA, not a blend. (#5172, 7/23/2013)

for some reason, this didnít quite gel with me .. . deep brown .. . mild rickets of foam .. . medium mild roast and burnt grass (not the good kind) .. . a touch soapy on the finish .. . rather mundane .. . . iím a dropout cub scout, i cheated on my knots and never carried a first aid kit...

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Pour out of 22 oz bottle, dark black pour with lasting tan head, nice looking. Aroma brought notes of chocolate, coffee, roast malts, nice pine, grass, orange, hints of lemon, touch of earth, slight caramel. Taste is a mix of pine, grass, some slight orange mixing into chocolate, lots of astringent coffee, finishing fairly roasted, bitter, slight earthy and spicy.
