22oz bottle. Dark brown color. Thin khaki head. Couple dots of lace. Bigger body. Lighter, kind of crisp carbonation. Awesome aroma, pretty much exactly what I want from a black IPA. Good bitter dark chocolate, dark roast, nice coffee malt flavors, along with some big earthy, herbal, piney hop. Good moderate to stronger bitter taste, minimal sweet. Awesome black IPA... Good balance of citrus, nutty herbal hop, and roasty herbal chocolate... Def. my kind of black IPA. Assertively hoppy, satisfyingly hoppy. Love it.

22 oz. bottle, pours a deep dark brown / near-black with a small beige head. Aroma of lightly roasted malts and moderate piney hops - not the most aromatic of black IPAs. Flavour brings out a nice balance of piney hops and roasted malt, though the flavours are rather weak and almost muted. The flavours come out more as the beer warms up, but the whole thing is rather underwhelming. Good black IPA, but leaves something to be desired.

Bottle:   Deep cola, moderate frothy tannish head, nice lacing.   Pale roast, slight lactose, with some pasture like bitterness on the nose.   Smooth sweet and roasty hoppiness on the tongue.   Thankfully the pasture doesn’t come across on the tongue, only pale roast and some sweet citrusy hops.   Moderate to full body and mouthfeel.   Nice balance, a sweeter example which is great with the roasted malts.   Enjoyable!

650 ml bottle, thanks to me, myself and I. Pours a black colour with a creamy beige head. Aroma of roasted malts, salty licorice, resin, caramel and pine. Flavour is very rich with strong floral hoppiness, roastiness, pine needles, spruce, salty licorice, dark chocolate, some coffee and mild herbal notes. Full bodied, slick mouthfeel and very soft carbonation. Long lingering bitter finish with floral bitterness, roastiness and some salt. Excellent balance. Oh my, this is good.

Bottle. Head is initially average sized, frothy, light brown, mostly diminishing. Body is dark brown to black. Aroma is moderately malty (chocolate, roasted grain), moderately hoppy (resin, grapefruit). Flavor is moderately to heavily sweet, lightly to moderately acidic, lightly bitter. Finish is lightly to moderately sweet, lightly to moderately acidic, moderately bitter. Medium to full body, watery/creamy texture, lively carbonation, lightly to moderately alcoholic. A pretty ordinary and uninspiring example, but ok. Very simple aroma with just the basics for the style. Decent enough balance, but a bit sour. Meh.

Pour out of 22 oz bottle, dark black pour with lasting tan head, nice looking. Aroma brought notes of chocolate, coffee, roast malts, nice pine, grass, orange, hints of lemon, touch of earth, slight caramel. Taste is a mix of pine, grass, some slight orange mixing into chocolate, lots of astringent coffee, finishing fairly roasted, bitter, slight earthy and spicy.

65 cl bottle.
Pours jet black color with a medium sized beige head. Aroma is very roasty and savory hoppy, some resin and pine needle notes appear also, caramel malts, salmiac and some faint hints of peppermint round things up nicely.
Flavor of roasted malts, lots of citric fruits, resinous hops, licorice notes, some wood and even some coffee on the background. Medium carbonation, burnt malty palate with a bitter hoppy kick. The hoppy bitterness turns eventually to almost creamy lingering licorice finish. Excellent.

22. Pours jet black with a dense and creamy tan head. Lots of stringy lace. Nice sweet fresh piney nose. Creamy medium body with soft carb. Sweet chocolate and pine; this is definitely not on the bitter and roasty end of the BIPA spectrum. A little bit of crisp bitterness in the finish, but even at the finish this leans to the chocolatey. Nice little sugary BIPA.

Tap at the brewpub. Dark cola pour with a small white head. Pine hop, earthy malt. Picking up a touch of yeast. Touch of roasty malt as well.

[Bottle (660ml)] Pours a very dark amber-brown with an average size long-lasting frothy beige head. Some minimal lacing on the glass. Nice aroma is malty, chocolaty and hoppy first, followed by dark fruit and a hint of spices. Interesting flavour, must be the hops they chose: malty -- sweet and roasty -- and chocolaty but also slightly spicy from the hops, along with some fruit, coffee, a bit of alcohol and a moderate bitter finish. Medium bodied. Not great, but a pretty good, interesting version of the style.
