10/18/13. On tap at Proof. Black pour with a small tan head. Boozy aroma, resin, maltiness, some oxidation. Disappointing flavor as well, boozy, resin, dank, oxidation, seems old possibly. Big meh, big disappointment.

"Pretty much exactly what I expected/hoped for from this brew. Like all the other "Racer" IPAs. pungent hops, both pine and citrus, ample bitterness...and a light but distinct roasted malt, coffee abd coca character. At no point do you realize you are drinking an imperial strength brew. I donít think this will have a long shelf life, but very good fresh. Finishes bitter and dry."

for some reason, this didnít quite gel with me .. . deep brown .. . mild rickets of foam .. . medium mild roast and burnt grass (not the good kind) .. . a touch soapy on the finish .. . rather mundane .. . . iím a dropout cub scout, i cheated on my knots and never carried a first aid kit...

Bottle. Head is initially average sized, frothy, light brown, mostly diminishing. Body is dark brown to black. Aroma is moderately malty (chocolate, roasted grain), moderately hoppy (resin, grapefruit). Flavor is moderately to heavily sweet, lightly to moderately acidic, lightly bitter. Finish is lightly to moderately sweet, lightly to moderately acidic, moderately bitter. Medium to full body, watery/creamy texture, lively carbonation, lightly to moderately alcoholic. A pretty ordinary and uninspiring example, but ok. Very simple aroma with just the basics for the style. Decent enough balance, but a bit sour. Meh.

22. Pours jet black with a dense and creamy tan head. Lots of stringy lace. Nice sweet fresh piney nose. Creamy medium body with soft carb. Sweet chocolate and pine; this is definitely not on the bitter and roasty end of the BIPA spectrum. A little bit of crisp bitterness in the finish, but even at the finish this leans to the chocolatey. Nice little sugary BIPA.

[Bottle (660ml)] Pours a very dark amber-brown with an average size long-lasting frothy beige head. Some minimal lacing on the glass. Nice aroma is malty, chocolaty and hoppy first, followed by dark fruit and a hint of spices. Interesting flavour, must be the hops they chose: malty -- sweet and roasty -- and chocolaty but also slightly spicy from the hops, along with some fruit, coffee, a bit of alcohol and a moderate bitter finish. Medium bodied. Not great, but a pretty good, interesting version of the style.

Bottle shared thanks to Jmgreenuk. Pours dark brown with a small beige head. Aroma of toffee, butterscotch, sweet malt, caramel, fudge and a subdued fruity hop character. Flavor is moderate to heavy sweet and moderate bitter. Medium bodied with light carbonation.

Bottle:   Deep cola, moderate frothy tannish head, nice lacing.   Pale roast, slight lactose, with some pasture like bitterness on the nose.   Smooth sweet and roasty hoppiness on the tongue.   Thankfully the pasture doesnít come across on the tongue, only pale roast and some sweet citrusy hops.   Moderate to full body and mouthfeel.   Nice balance, a sweeter example which is great with the roasted malts.   Enjoyable!

Bomber to pint (shared with the Mrs.). Looks good; a dark cola with beige head that dissipates into lacing. Smells and tastes solid; hoppy with notes of dark malt and roast. Good on the palate. Good beer.
