3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle. Definitely black, but IMHO not anywhere in the same league as the other Racer brands. Full disclosure, I’m not a big fan of the "black IPA" rage that’s going on. This is yet another example. Rich with some rich, bitter chocolate malt, the assertive hoppiness doesn’t exactly go a long way to blend in, at least as far as I’m concerned. Drinkable enough, I guess, but I rather have had a porter or an IPA, not a blend. (#5172, 7/23/2013)

Some floral inky hop notes along w a grwat deal of dark roast chocolate. Seemed almost like a ligjt imperial stout. Black pour tan head. Flavors of dark roast moderate dark malt sweetness herbal floral hops in moderation and more dry dark roast. Medium body like a light imperial stout. Interesting take on black ipa.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle. Poured a clear dark brown with a thin light tan head. The aroma is roasted malt, butterscotch. The flavour is medium to strong bitter with a rich hop bitter, molasses, sweet fruit palate. Medium bodied with average carbonation. Not a great deal of life and lacks the defining black IPA hop character, but a good beer all the same.
