Enjoyed it as anything from Bear Republic but not sure I'd change from Racer 5 except for something different. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Draft at source. Nose is moderate in cocoa and citrusy hops. Pour is deep brown with red highlights belabor isnabclash of piney and citrus hop bitterness with roasted grains. Not well balanced at all. Way to bitter and way to clashing.

Draught at Bear Republic. Deep brown liquid with small to medium light tan head. Aroma of coffee, citrus, pine, tangerine, light grain and toast. Taste is light sweet and medium bitter with notes of citrus, coffee and light grain. Medium bodied with medium carbonation. Nice.

Sample on tap at the brewpub. Opaque black pour with lacy tan foam. Aroma is really roasty, tons of burnt malt, fruity, piney resinous hop. Taste is roasty, acrid burnt grain, lingering resinous finish. Palate is med full bodied with med carbonation. Too much.

Pours two fingers of tan head on the darkest brown body. The aroma is roasted malt, pine and a little grapefruit. The taste is nicely pine bitterness throughout with the roasted malt keeping it in check. Great profile. The texture is smooth. Really enjoyable.

Bottle, shared with Parksy. Very dark brown, amber highlights. Aroma of brown bread, chocolate, ripe fruits. Roast and caramel, ripe fruity hops, heavy body, moderately bitter finish. Quite malty, but good.

Bottle... Pours hazy and dark brown with a tan head. The aroma features chocolate, resin and a light splash of alcohol. Full-bodied with a creamy mouthfeel and moderate carbonation. The flavor is roasty, burnt, bitter and a touch chocolaty. As this warms, the resiny hop bitterness doesn’t mellow. It stands strong. Burnt, grassy, pine finish.

Bottle from Half Time webshop. Pours almost pitch black with a big creamy tanned head. Aroma of roasted malts, liquorice and orange. Smooth creamy mouthfeel. Taste of dark malts, weak roasty and some good piney hops towards the lingering dry bitter finish.

"Pretty much exactly what I expected/hoped for from this brew. Like all the other "Racer" IPAs. pungent hops, both pine and citrus, ample bitterness...and a light but distinct roasted malt, coffee abd coca character. At no point do you realize you are drinking an imperial strength brew. I don’t think this will have a long shelf life, but very good fresh. Finishes bitter and dry."

Great dark color and beautiful tan head. This beer looked delicious. The beer was a bit sweet and bitter, maybe a bit too bitter in the finish for me.
