Thought this was a damn good CDA. Pours right black with off white foam head. Soem pine in the nose, but a lot of roast. Really good blend between the malt and hops makes for a ton of flavors (chocolate, hazelnut, pine, resin, roasted nuts) that blend well and are very easy drinking. Another winner from Bear Republic.

Dry piney hop scents some malt and slight grapiness. Nice off white head with Blackish body with dark red hue up top.malty black coffee flavors that lead to a sudden dry creamyness and slight spice and heat at the end. Smooth dry creamy on the palate. Izzick

Spring 2013 release. Bottle. More of a Stout then an IPA. Overtones of dark fruit, subtle rum raisin, roasted malt and chocolate, dominate the nose and palate, with simply an underlying bitter hopping in the finish. It's good, though not what I was expecting with 'IPA' on the label from this hop friendly brewery. An enjoyable dark ale that should of been released early in the winter, and not at the end of spring. Racer X should be the spring seasonal IMO. --- tasted while on a long journey to understand the world around me...

Appearance: Black with a big beige head
Aroma: Roasted malts and grapefruit
Taste: Toasted malts, grapefruit and pine
Nice. Lots of roast in the aroma, more of a IPA in the taste.

Cask. Pours dark brown with a beige head. Citric hoppy aroma with light floral notes and sweet malts. The flavor has citric and flowery hops, light malty sweetness, and some lightly roasted malts. Very easy to drink and very well balanced.

Tap at E! Burger. Rating #21. Dark black with a big tan head and great lacing. Roasty and a little piney in the aroma. Flavor had a little roast, light chocolate and a little booze (but in a good way). (2507)

650 ml. bottle. Pours a medium light beige well retained head, with extensive lacing, over a clear dark brown (SRM 30) body......nose is pine, resin, chocolate, light cocoa, touches of toffee/caramel....taste is pine, resin, citrus peel, barest hints of coffee, cocoa, light chocolate, finishing with a moderate hop grassy bitterness....mouth feel thick and creamy, alcohol hidden, carbonation low but adds light acid. This is typical example of the style. It is nicely balanced, has excellent complexity in both aroma and flavor, and is clean in its finish. BJCP 8/3/16/5/8
