On tap at Rattle’n’Hum Bear Republic event. A sweet and grainy barleywine-type brew, with a little wild funk. Sweet, fruity aroma, a warm finish, and some dry oak. Eccentric stuff, but interesting for sure.

At 2012 Avery Strong Ale Fest. Slightly hazy amber bronze, not much head. Funky aroma with a slight acidic sourness, candy sugar, toffee, and a touch of raisin. Smelled a little bitter but I couldn’t figure out any hop tones. Pretty sweet flavor with candy sugar, apple, toffee, raisin, cherry, and more bright boozy toffee. Nice flavor but too sweet.

On draft at the Bistro Barrel fest. This one pours orange with an off white head. The aroma has some oak and tropical fruit. The flavor is mildly sweet with notes of tropical fruit, molasses, oak and definitely some pea soup in the background. This borders on not working, but it does. I liked it.

Draft @ Jackie O’s (notes). Pours a hazy amber color with a small off white head. The aroma and flavor are heavy on sweet caramel malts, some toasted bread, a grassy component comes in, oak, vinous notes and a touch of vanilla. If it stopped there, this would be higher. Unfortunately, I noted the pea aroma and flavor like some of the others who have rated this. It wasn’t overpowering, just enough to distract. Alcohol was fairly well hidden.
