Draft. Dark pour with tan head. Sweet, vanilla, toffee, oak maybe cognac aromas. Flavors end sweet, vanilla, chocolate and toffee notes, cognac and barrel notes are up front.

Draft at the brewpub, served in a flight. Pours a deep opaque brown with a small tan ring for a head. Notes of vanilla, molasses, fudge, soy, dark fruits, licorice, oak, and cocoa. Medium-bodied, with low carbonation and a sticky, slightly oxidized mouthfeel. Uneven, and a bit sloppy. But still has some intrigue.

On tap at the BD in Chalfont. Poured a black color with a small sized tan head. Smells like someone was chewing a popcorn flavored jelly belly jelly bean and blew into my face - lots of buttered popcorn (which was not present in the flavors).

Daft at the brewpub. Pours deep brown with a creamy off-white head. The nose has tangy dark fruits, toffee. Medium sweet flavorbwith decent alcohol kick, more toffee, burnt bread, earth, raisins. Full bodied with fine carboantion. Warmin finish with some toasted toffee, scorched earth, fruitcake, more raisins, figs. A little rough but not bad.

Draught at Bear Republic. Opaque black liquid with small to medium tan head. Aroma of raw sugar, chocolate, toffee, caramel, light butter and coffee. Taste is light sweet and light bitter with notes of raw sugar, chocolate and coffee. Bit sour from the dark malt. Medium bodied with medium carbonation. Not very elegant, but OK.

Sample on tap at the brewpub. Dark black pour with thin tan foam. Aroma is very woody, lots of cognac, rich boozy raisins. Taste is roasty, boozy, fruity. Palate is full bodied.

32 oz. growler. Black body. Smells of huge amounts of cognac. Sweet fruity cognac. Strong sugary aroma. Almost sickly. Some coffee roasted malts. Tastes of equally strong cognac up front. Like a sweet red wine with intense oak. Raisins and dark fruits. Then strong coffee malts and bitterness take over. Boozy, but not really heavy. An aggressive beer in all other respects, though. This was a struggle, but it was interesting.

On tap at APEX (3/15/15). Black in color with a decent sized tan head. Aroma is of brandy, port, oak, dark fruits, and roasted malts. Taste is of oak, prune, dried cherries, port wine, roasted malts, and licorice.

On draft. Dark brown pour, with a small off white head. Chocolate, caramelized sugars, dark fruit, raisin, mild vinous, roast, and plum. Pretty nice.
