This copper colored American IPA took a wild left turn when we fermented it with our favorite Trappist ale yeast. Charged with hops, followed closely by a clove and pepper Belgian yeast character.

Poured at Bear Republic from tap a darker brown with medium off-white head. Nice aroma of citrusy hops, malt, and some roast. Flavor pours in with malt, yeast, citrus, caramel, and light notes of banana. This is a nice combination of two great beers. I prefer the two separately but this one is great also. So much to choose from. I’d drink it again and again.

On tap at Belmont Station. Dark red-orange. Moderate head. Belgian yeast comes out in the aroma along with a light fruit note and hops. Thick body feel. You can taste the sugar, hops and a strong note from the yeast. I did not find it a quick drinker. I prefer my Racer 5 straight up.

On tap at Belmont Station. Quite the odd one, but overall a rockin’ output! All your great flavor from the Rocket is there, with a little extra bready and sugary push from whatever yeast strain they’ve decided to use. Pours a dark amber, white head. Medium to thick body. Nice hoppy finish while the sweet and semi-fruity flavors of the yeast continue to cause joy. YES.

On tap at he brewpub in Healdsburg. Medium amber with a very thin head. Malt aromas with "Belgan" fermentation notes with both fruit and spiciness. Some dark fruit flavors with a small amount of prune and banana. Some spicy hops are present as well which lend a nice bitterness. Medium-bodied with big flavors that are edgy but balance out well in the end.

On tap at Belmont Station and Bailey’s Taproom in Portland, OR--Poured a rich amber body with a small white head. Yeasty, sweet, and hoppy nose. Gritty malty and hopped-out flavor. Another stellar infusion of styles. Great beer!

given the description and a quick taster from the bartender, i could not resist a pint of this lovely ale, the belgian yeast strain added a much welcomed fruity complexity, while the backbone of the blended worts from two big hoppy bear republic standby’s made this hop-head feel at home and comforted.

On tap a the PDX Green Dragon. The bartender explained this was a blend of Red Rocket and Racer V with a Belgian yeast strain, and yep, it tasted sorta like that. This thing was all hopped up like most Bear Republic beers, strong citrus hops, heavy on the bittering. The belgian strain gave a nice tropical fruit note, but the bitterness often muted it. While tasting more like a big bitter IPA then a belgian, it was still a solid beer, although I would have like a bit less bitterness to get some more esters in there and a bit more carbonation to make it more floral.
