Commercial Description:
This copper colored beer is a blend of Racer 5 and Red Rocket, and is fermented with a Belgian yeast strain, giving a characteristic spicy clove aroma. The American hop bitterness and aroma balances the Belgian character. This hybrid beer is so unusual that we decided to call it Crazy Ivan, after the unexpected left turn we took in making (and naming) it. Dive, Dive!

On tap @O’Briens. Dense amber hue, moderate off white head, light lacing. Nose is very subtle with a touch of toffee and caramel, some grassy hops. Taste is drying bitter hops with light earthy tones, some toffee in the middle, finishes thick caramel malt. Medium-bodied, watery texture, moderate carbonation. Mostly subdued nose and flavor here, not a great balance, might have been an off-keg...

On-tap at SD Brewing Co. Pours cloudy brown/red with a creamy, offwhite head, spider web lace. Smells subdued sweet and red fruity malty and slightly hoppy as well. Tastes hoppy and dry malty up front with a lingering malty sweetness, bready and slightly spicy as well. Medium body, good carbonation.

12oz draft at the Dirty Truth in downtown Northampton. This was a great after dinner beer full of malty caramel flavors. It was in the "Belgian" box on the chalkboard of 40 drafts. It tastes like a Belgian brown with a hint of west coast hops. Good beer from a great brewery.

Tap @ Cole’s. Nose is yeast, clay-like fruits, caramel, alcohol, a light sourish fruit tinge. Flavor is yeast, caramel, lots of dry fruits & apples. Quite tannic. Caramel & rye grows in the finish w. strong bitterness & caramel. Its odd to experience an ASA fermented with a Belgian yeast.

Enjoyed on-tap at Cole’s. This beer rocks. Dark fruit aroma. Dark fruit colour with a little white head and some lace dots. Served a bit too cold, a taste range as it warmed. Above average mouthfeel, and also above-average carbonation. Very tasty grapefruit, marmelade, a wonderful bitterness. So enjoyable.

On tap @ Coles in Buffalo NY. ours a somewhat murky amber brown. Aroma is sweet maltines, iced tea, floral & citrus hops. taste starts off heavily Belgian yeastiness influenced. Follws up with some herbal floral tea flavor withmalty sweetness &some hop bitterness in the finish. Complex interesting take on two beers that I really enjoy
