4.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
NO WONDER I liked this beer. Say the words Racer 5 and I’m happy. I noted a rather westcoast hoppyness that I know and love. It definitely had the Belgian spice notes (as the description says clove) to make this a very balanced beer. that balance as my (and just about everyones) ratings show make for a good beer. Congrats to the guys at Bear Republic for yet another winning brew.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Golden orange, translucent appearance with a small, sine off-white head. Aroma is out of this world... I don’t know where to begin to explain it. Flavor an expansion of the aroma. A little soapy... weird, but unique. I’ll give it that. Neat spice in the palate and finish. Almost pepperish. Really neat hop profile...

3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Tap at Blind Tiger. Poured a medium amber. Nose is a bit spicy with some Belgian yeast. Flavor is fruity, orange, pear, and a hint of tartness. Some hops float through and make for an interesting mix of Belgian sweetness and bitter finish. A nice American belgian.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Location: Tap at Rattle ’N’ Hum, 4/2/10
Aroma: Nose has citrus hops, caramel, and some berries
Appearance: Pours a copper-orange color
Flavor: Taste is hoppy, medium sweet, good lingering bitterness
Palate: Medium bodied with a crisp mouthfeel
This one feels more like a Pale Ale or an IPA then a Belgian Ale to me, but it is a pretty solid beer. It is very drinkable, and has that nice West Coast hop fell to it. Good stuff.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
On tap at Rose & Crown. This is really an interesting beer. I would have pegged it as more of an IPA than a Belgian Ale, but oh well, I fail at picking the style out again. Raise up off, man, at least I didn’t confuse an Adjunct Lager with an Imperial Stout.
This beer is a deep dark amber color with a one-finger off-white head.
Aroma is very hoppy - citrusy mainly - with caramel malt and an interesting toasty note, as well as some Belgian yeast. Hops dominate though.
Flavor is caramel malt, Belgian yeast, and a big citrusy hop punch. Not so big as in Racer 5 or Red Rocket (the base beers), but pretty big. Some nice floral and spice notes as well.
Palate is pretty average. Medium-low carbonation; not too much life to it. Medium body.
Overall an interesting beer to say the least. Not quite as crazy as they make it out to be, but good.

3.1 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Weak rose hip nose. Clear copper, thin head. Mild funk, solid malt backbone, and lemon zest. Interesting and decent beer, but not very memorable.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
On tap at Paradiso in DC: Pours a transparent deep copper bronze with a clingy-lacing froth of off-white head. Has a sweet toasty caramel and biscuity nose with a ton of fresh resiny grapefruity hops. Starts with good body and assertive hop bitterness with an underlying malty sweet balance. Finishes crisp and bittersweet with lingering hop flavor. A very nice brew that is much closer to an IPA than a Belgian ale.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Pours a clear deepish orange with not much retention or lace. Great California west coast hoppy nose: fresh citrus, grapefruit sections. Taste is fresh grapefruit, bitter orange, refreshing, bright citrus. Light spiciness. Not much yeast character.

Draught at Birreria Paradiso. Dark golden color, edge head, scant lacing. Aroma of malt and berries. Start starts sweet, finishes bitter. Decent enough.
