A custom blend of the beers of Bear Republic, Cuvee de Bubba is refermented in oak wine barrels using only the wild micro flora and fauna native to the Alexander Valley. A bouquet of stone fruits with a complex flavor profile of malt, tobacco, and cherry pie sourness.

Cuvee de Bubba won a Silver medal at the 2012 Festival of Wood and Barrel-Aged Beer in the Wild Acidic Beer category.

sample from GABF. Pour red/brown. Nose is a bit funky, light tart, dark fruits, some vinegar. Flavor is much the same with very acidic, wood. Very good.

On tap @ Downtown Johnny Brown’s: Appeared a dark mahogany almost amber tinted liquid with a decent formation of foam head which eventually retreated. Aroma is sour with a notice of spruce and funky yeast that I am unable to describe. The flavor is dominated by sourness and also has a sticky sweet malts profile that is almost syrup tasting like but I wouldn’t go as far as to say it’s actual syrup used in the beer. Flavor is weird though and seems almost watery in the finish.

Definite notes of cherry, lemon tang, wood barrel, funky, sour, earthy sweet. Interesting. Orange pour, thinnish head. Flavors of cherries, lemon tang, funky yeast, oak wine barrel notes, woody earthy tangy tobacco. Sweet and sour in the finish. Tangy funk lingers. Smooth and medium carbonated. Nice beer.

Got the last bit of the keg on this one, pours hazy orange with large off white head, great lacing. Aromas are dust, funk, lemons, and wild yeast. Taste is sour lemons, dusty wood, grape candy, and sour cherries. Medium body, salivating. Really nice wild ale from Bear Republic.

Sampled at Raliegh Rare and Vintage 2013. This was definitely the dark horse favorite of the event! Clearish amber pour with decent offwhite head. The sourness, tart, and acidity were all in balance. Not very funky. Slight peachy or persimmon or maybe cherry flavors. damn good. With a festival full of many delicious beers, this was the fave!

On tap. Clear golden with a foamy off white head. Sour cherry, lemon, and earthy sour dough aroma and taste with a nice bright and tart finish. Very good.

Man, anyone who has rated this as anything but less than awesome is wicked retahded. Clean reddish amber pour and off white head. Nose is fantastic, wild floral notes with a touch of hibiscus. Peppery and funky with a touch of citrus/pineapple. Peppery and floral notes in the flavor with a light fruityness and lovely wild/funky character. Light, dry, tart mouthfeel/palate. Absolutely great, very dry and acidic and floral.
