2.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20
On tap at the Bistro Barrel Aged Beer Fest. Pours a hazy copperish amber with a small white head that disappears relatively quickly and leaves little lacing on the glass. The aroma is some brett, a bit of oak, and a light peppery not. Pretty bland. Taste is some bretty funkiness, a bit of oak, and some light lemon. Finishes with a light tartness. Light, watery body. Low carbonation. A pretty bland, boring beer. Not really worth trying.

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Tulip pour at RnH w James. Light red/amber pour and small head. Aroma is kind of weak, some light fruit. Palate is very tart with heavy notes of light fruit with some faint vinegar and a noticeable bitterness in the finish - unique among sours Iíve tasted. Iíd call it a "soft" sour in that itís tart with indistinguishable light berries/fruits and low acidity. Would definitely order again. Nice.

2.4 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20
Tasting notes from 5/09. On tap @ the truth. I had also had this one a NOTB 09 but have a better memory of it at the dove. Poured out a reddish brown minimal lacing and head. Interesting nose, maybe some sourness or smoke? Seemed unbalanced sharp sourness that didnít come together in the end. A good try but just didnít pan out for me.

3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Draft. Slightly hazy amber pour. Fruit, light sweetness, grape, oak, lactic sourness, vinegar, and maybe a hint of tart cherry candy. Not the best sour, but I still enjoyed it.

2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20
GABF 2011. Clear burnt gold. Sour aroma with a nose of light fruity oak. On the flavor, the sourness is kinda puckering, but with a nice robust flavor. Sour apricot, oak, some kind of sweetness, not sure..., white wine, apple, and more sour on the finish. Not shabby, just a little too puckering.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
UPDATED: DEC 20, 2011 A few samples at GABF (same aisle as my beer). Pours with a lightly hazed golden-amber hued body and an excessively large foamy white head (line pressures that the kegs were hooked up to were VERY high). Aromas were vinous, lightly earthy, tobacco, funk, fruit, grape, acid and brett. Flavors are sour, vinous with light grape notes, damp leaves, some oak. Pretty clean as far as sours go. Dry.
Separate notes: Clear golden hue with a white head. Aromas are very vinous, white wine, grapes, lacto, fruit. Flavors are vinous, earthy, lacto, wine, grapes. Lively bubbles, tannic and dry.

2.7 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
A: The beer pours a hazy golden amber color with a small white head.
S: The nose features a Mild vinegar note as well as a distinct Cheerios character. There is some wet oak and grass as well as the ever popular straw/hay. A little booze and a mild malt sweetness.
T: The flavor starts out with a slight sweetness followed by plenty of grass, green apple, and lemon zest. As with the aroma, some vinegar is present, as is the cereal sweetness and flavor of Cheerios.
M: Medium in body with a medium carbonation.
O: While not atrocious, this was not very good by any means.

4.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
A Mes rate. Tap at Churchills.
Aroma: not a great deal happening but what is there is pretty good. The wine soaked wood shows through pretty well.
Appearance: Cleanish golden brown with a thin off white head and some lace.
Flavour: Big white wine barrel with some excellent almost smoky wooden notes. Expertly pitched sourness. Just the right amount of juicy and puckery sour with a hint of acidity.
Palate: Smooth as you like but dry at the same time. Feels like a Belgian lambic and obviously, thatís no bad thing.
Overall: Massively underrated if you ask me. Easy to drink but plenty sour, just not dry enough to really challenge your palate. No alcohol apparent and the finish is superbly long and juicy.
A very very good beer with the barrel integrated really well and the blend has been done with care and attention. Love it.
