3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 bvc (1103) - Kenmore, Washington, USA - JUN 10, 2012Draft at brouwers. Pours clear darker gold with a bit of a orangish tint and sticky white head. Quite aggressive on the nose. Sharp peppery cracker malt with bright yet bitter hops that mostly hints of lemony pinesol. Light crisp body, lively/peppery carb. Bitter pinesol hops up front, astringent, peppery dry malt and finishes really quite dry and bitter. No flaws, but touch too out of balance for me.

On tap. Pours with a clear golden hued body with a medium sized white head. Aromas are of tangerine, dank, and resiny hops. Sticky alcohol, tamarind, medium caramel, citrus pith and grapefruit. Flavors are big and sticky with too much caramel for my taste in hoppy beers. Tangerine, alcohol, big and boozy. Low bubbles, big and sticky!
3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 AmEricanbrew (4868) - Belcher, Louisiana, USA - DEC 18, 2012
Tap@Brouwers 25July2012. Hazy amber color with ivory sheen. Nice floral, tropical fruit, caramel aromas. medium body with average co2. Sweet caramel, pale malt flavors with bitter grapefruit, alcohol to balance--too heavy and boozy really---decent
3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 mcberko (4056) - Vancouver, British Columbia, CANADA - OCT 15, 2012
On tap at Brouwer’s Café, pours a hazy golden orange with a small white head. Aroma of resinous hops and sweet caramel malts, seems on the sugary side. Flavour is highly resinous hop-heavy, loads of sweet caramel malt that become a bit too overpowering, leaving a medium astringency, with a cloying sweetness. Surprisingly inferior to the regular Apex.
3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 corby112 (2214) - philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA - SEP 5, 2012
Draft at Monk’s Cafe in Philadelphia, PA.
Pours a hazy yellowish orange color with a two finger white foam head that slowly settles into a lastig ring. Glass is coated with streaks and splotches of soapy lacing.
Juicy hop aroma that’s bursting wih tropical fruit notes, citrus and dank, resinous pine. Lots of mango, pineapple, papaya and grapefruit along with orange zest and lemon countered by dank grassy pine needle. Some pale biscuity malt and strong booze slightly taking away from the hops.
Medium bodied wih a blast of dank, resinous hops that provide a strong dry, earthy bitterness that lingers over the sweeter notes, pale malt and strong booze into a dry finish. Sticky, grassy pine needle dominates giving off more bitterness than the aroma suggests. Hue sweet tropical and citrus fruit notes from the nose are muted and overpowered by dry bitterness and boozy heat. Pale malt backbone with grainy graham cracker and biscuit. Lots of heat toward the finish which hurts drinkability.
4.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20 fiulijn (12179) - Malmö, DENMARK - AUG 16, 2012
Draught at Brouwer’s Café, Seattle Amber color, small creamy head. Wonderful aroma of caramel and toffee, sweet, with moderate fruity presence, light cheesy yeast. Also the flavor is impressive, very strong caramel and malt and toffee, with a good body structure, and avoiding the chewy and heavy character of crystal malt; powerful hopping of course, carrying loads of soft resins and fruity character; needless to say, the final is infinite, still balanced. One of the best, most powerful, fresh Imperial IPAs in a long time.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 raphael (746) - Portland, Oregon, USA - JUL 23, 2012
A case of good pieces but parts not harmonizing. Rich resin hops with citrus aroma, a spicy almost pepper note. tan head on peach brown body. light in the mouth & little thin. almost apricot sweetness, malt syrup, alcohol, woody hops. get these slashes of bitter but mostly sweet with moments of quite sweet. even in the finish is a little schizo, sometimes bitter sometimes sweet.
3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 Savvy1982 (1705) - Lethbridge, Alberta, CANADA - JUL 22, 2012
Draft at Taps. Pours hazy deep tawny/gold. Thin to medium cream-coloured head, solid lacing. Nose is big caramel, spice, juniper, Belgian yeast? spruce, marmalade. Flavours of spicy ginger cake, big sticky malt presence, plus grapefruit, spice, fruitcake. More an American Strong than an IIPA in my opinion... Meh...
