COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This barrel aged smoked sour ale is a blend of many barrels from the Bear Republic cellar, including Smoked Red Rocket and Black Do, which was then spiked with Bear Republic’s own ’spank,’ a wild open fermentation beer that is the source of Bear Republic’s sour power. If you like sour beers, this one is the first of its kind.

On tap at Holiday Ale Festival in Portland. Amazing. Pours deep red brown with a beige head. Aroma is sour, dark fruits, cinnamon. Taste is smokey at first, then plums, then back to the smoke. Never had a smoked sour but this one

On tap at Pacific Coast Brewing. Pours reddish brown with a thin beige head and a sour fruit aroma. There is a robust sour brown flavor, tart and fruity, with some smoky oak. Leaves citrus on the palate. An excellent brew.

Tap at Pacific Coast Brewing. Pours a dark ruddy amber with beige bubbles. Nice mellow sour/oaky aroma. Moderately sour/oak flavors. Very smooth. Sour and astringent. Brilliant.

Tap at Holiday Ale Festival. Dark brow pour. Very interesting mix between sour and smoky. I personally found it to be more smoky with the sour vinous notes coming through in the finish, and I liked the effect. Nobody else in my party enjoyed it at all though. Hope for more experimental brews from BR in the future!

Tap @ Holiday Ale Fest... Poured dark brownish/amber with an off-white head. Funky aroma, very lactic. Dry with sweet candied tones. Nice funkiness. SLight metallic flavor, foamy, chemicals and tartness, oak, spices, and tad bit of peat and smoke in the finish.
