On tap at Pizzeria Paradiso in Old Town Alexandria. Nose has a nice citrus bite. Flavor is a bit grainy but otherwise light and moderately bitter.

Pours amber with a small white head. Aroma is citrus, resin and light malts. Medium bodied with some stickiness on the finish. Nice.

From the 12 fl. oz. bottle. It pours a fluffy heady orange-amber with a chill haze perhaps. Toasted malts, peat moss, and grassy hops define the aroma. Light to medium body. Fairly clean and sweet flavor up front with a lingering dry bitterness at the end. Fits the style appropriately.

Aluminum can: Aroma is fragrant with the smell of freshly squeezed grapefruit and blood orange fruit which sparked interest. Liquid appeared a murky gold that had an eruption of bubbles rising to the top. A brief formation of foam head but quickly fizzed out. Looks similar to champagne. The flavor is initially bitter with intense moments of sourness across my tongue. Finish reminds me of some strong type of cheese as the beer leaves behind a salty residue around my lips. Not a beer that I am entirely thrilled about spending over $13 for a 6 pack.

Hazy copperish golden with a thin foamy head. Lovely pale ale aroma driven by semisweet pale malt and a touch of golden toast, with a smack of grassy and orange rind hoppy notes. Crisp hoppy flavor with orange zest, just the right amount of citric bitterness, a dash of lemon grass, and maybe some pine, with a sturdy pale malt body and a whisper of marmalade.

Poured from a 12 oz into a chilled tall glass. Another quality offering by one of our NorCalís premiere brewers. Nice bouquet of pine and citrus, decent color, edgey enough on the palate to feel the hops, and good balance over all. My favorite APA is Sierra Nevada, but this beer is a worthy cousin. I really love BRís Rocket Red and Hop Rod Rye, so Iím not surprised that this brew is so drinkable. Good job!

Caramel malt and fruity, flowery hops in the aroma. Flavor starts sweet and bready. Finish is flowery and citrus/fruity, and slightly sour. Nice beer, but not as good as some of the other "Racers."

Whatever an "American Pale Ale" is this tastes like a hoppy IPA to me. Personally, my palate has had enough of these "cookie cutter" beers that mostly smell and taste the same: assertive, unbalanced, excessively bitter. This isnít as overwhelming as some but the maltiness described by other tasters eludes me. I tried it, but itís not something Iím likely to drink again.

Clearish amber with an off-white head. Aroma of flowers, caramel, and citrus. Flavor is well balanced; fruity and somewhat bitter. Medium bodied and smooth.

Type: 12-oz. bottle Glass: Figueroa Mountain pint glass From: Alpine Liquor in Alpine, Calif. Price: $8.99 for a 6-pack Purchased: March 19, 2015 Consumed: March 19, 2015 Misc.: Best by Sept. 5, 2015 Poured an orangeish, caramel, slightly hazy color with two fingers of off-white, rocky head. Lots of bubble streams coming up from the bottom of the glass. A few spots of lacing on the sides of the glass. Bad retention. (Sight - 3.38) Pretty potent whiff of Citra hops and caramel malts. Also Cascade, melon, orange zest, nectarine, slight mango, lime, pine, light pineapple and more tropical notes. (Sight - 3.88) Tasted not as nice as the nose. A bit unbalanced, seemingly alcohol coming first before any flavor. Then got nectarine rind, orange zest, caramel, Cascade, mango, honey wheat, grass, lime and some pine. (Taste - 3.50) Light body. Oily texture. Average carbonation. Abrupt, somewhat refreshing finish. (Feel - 3.50) Nothing to grand about this beer (get it?) Just an average APA. (Overall - 3.50) 3.57 81 B
