Ughsmash (2814), Waukesha, Wisconsin, USA Jun 25, 2008 On tap at the Brew Kettle. Poured clear brighter golden with a sticky cap of white head.. nice lacing as it descended. The aroma picked up vegetal notes upfront that really threw me off.. beyond that, OK pale malts and pine showed. The flavor found crisp pine and citrusy bitterness that were quite nice, but it was still plagued by vegetal mash sweetness.. solid pils malt sweetness joined on the back-end along with higher bitterness. Lighter-bodied and bitter on the palate.. tough to get past the off (or at least ugly) notes. Schultsc (393), Henderson, Nevada, USA May 19, 2008 On tap at the brewpub in Healdsburg. Light orange-gold with a fine, thin white head. Lots of grain with lager fermentation notes and some mellow spicy hops and mild fruit. Berry fruit and grass in the flavor with background hops bitterness and a lager edge. Light body with good structure and substance. aspidites (1268), manteca, California, USA Nov 26, 2007 Bready, herbal and grassy nose. Caramelized and biscuity on the palate with good mouthfeel. Soft and mildly grainy finish. Davecooks (1128), Bay Area, California, USA Nov 15, 2007 Draft. Burnt copper color with a white head. Grainy malt aroma with some strawberry and lemon notes. Fruity malt flavor with a floral and bitter finish. The taste seems to be a little all over the place but I really like it. jasonp (1423), Sterling/Dulles, Virginia, USA Aug 22, 2007 On tap at Bear Republic in mid-June. Per Brewmaster Richard Norgrove this is a a hybrid beer fermented at first like an ale then fermented like a lager. Deep golden to light copper color. Pleasant fresh grain and grassy herbal hop nose. Nice mix of pils and subtle toasty caramel/vienna malt flavor followed by notes of bread and fresh herbal hops. Medium bodied, smooth texture and moderate carbonation. Very easy drinking and flavorful. Give this a shot if it’s still on.
