Sampler at the brewery. Pretty straight forward, traditional hefe, though a bit on the lighter side. Dry finish. Sessionable, but not terribly memorable.
3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 PhillyCraft (1984) - Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA - MAR 27, 2013
Tap at Kraftwork for their Bear Republic event. Pours unfiltered murky yellow with thin white head, not much lacing. Aromas and flavor of wheat, apple juice, german malts, and light hops. Sessionable, but most german styles are boring to me.
2.5 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 9/20 Slipstream (1776) - USA - NOV 29, 2012
On draft at The Pony Bar and called Wine Country Wheat. This was a mild and bland wheat brew. It is supposed to be a German hefeweizen, but it is lacking in flavor, sweetness, and character. Not bad, but I was hoping for better from Bear Republic.

Sampler at the brewpub as ’Wine Country Wheat’. Cloudy wheat color with banana and clove aroma. Flavor is also banana with mild clove notes. Good hefeweizen, but fairly run of the mill.
4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 richiesd (31) - California, USA - JUL 2, 2012
On draft @ Bear Republic.
Appearance, cloudy, nice carbonation. Unfiltered hefeweizen.
Big fan of this one. Listed as "Wine Country Wheat" at Bear Republic. I don’t know if this is a different recipe than the regular hefeweizen or not, but I actually kind of love this beer.
It’s a wonderful fruity hefeweizen. Definitely some residual sugar. Reminds me of a sweeter weihenstephaner. Would definitely order this one again.

Hanging with JoeT at the brewery on Aug 9, 2011 for my birthday. I was more focused on the company than the notes, but these’ll do until I get back there this summer and do it right. Listed as Wine Country Wheat at the pub. Light haze in the pour. Nose yeasty spice and high citrus/lemon. Taste is smooth and bubblegum.
