3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20 FatPhil (7496) - Tallinn, ESTONIA - APR 6, 2013
355ml bottle - shared by Janne and rosenberg
Full sweet hoppy aroma, caramelly. Nice dark orange, small head. Sweet cakey and caramelly malts, even toffee sauce. Dring resiny bitterness, sticky and piney. Surprisingly well balanced for its strength. Alcohol fairly well restrained, but with the over-the top nature o everything else, this is clearly strong. I shoudn’t like it, but I do.
3.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 mjs (3609) - Helsinki, FINLAND - APR 6, 2013
(Bottle, 0.355 l, courtesy of VastActiv, thanks Janne, 20130406) The beer poured brown and clear. Its head was small and white. Aroma had malts, sweetness, sweet rye bread and hops. Palate was medium bodied and dry with medium carbonation. Flavours were malts, sweetness, resin, sweet rye bread and bitterness. Afteraste was sweet, bitter and mildly boozy. Not a bad double IPA but not such that would impress me.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 hotstuff (3340) - Indiana, USA - APR 2, 2013
Backlog rating 1-13-2009 (Bottle) This beer when poured has a medium sized beige frothy fizzy head that is mostly lasting, fizzy fast rising carbonation, hazy body, good amount of lacing, and a deep orange-red hue. The Aroma is floral hops, rye and caramel. The Taste is floral hops, caramel, rye, and spicy. The Palate is tingly and this is a medium bodied beer. All-in-all the rye comes out in the taste very nice. This beer is very worth trying, a beer I would drink again and a beer that I recommend.

Oily. I told Nicola what her role was should the zombie apocalypse occur. She seemed to be in, or at least humoured me. Tom, Dan, listen carefully...I think it is only fair that once our families are safe we concentrate on saving Cotteridge Wines. If we can get our families there I’m sure that there is plenty of food to keep us going for a while and we may even find something to occupy ourselves. Empty bottles make good zombie killing weapons. It’ll be like Shaun of the Dead, only in a shop instead of a pub, and drinking good beer. Malty.

Pours a dark reddish brown, moderate amount of head. Aroma is rye and a vague resinous tinge, subtle at first, but rye becomes stronger in aroma as beer warms. Body is medium, rye and bitterness hit at very end of finish, which becomes more subtle as beer warms. Haven’t had many other beers in this style, but certainly enjoyable.
