---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

12 oz bottle poured into nonic. Pours deep orange to brown with floaties and a fairly tall off-white head. Aroma is grapefruit, pine, and floral hops, caramel, and rye spice. Taste is similar with light malt sweetness followed by a wave of high hop bitterness and some rye spice on the finish. Individual flavors that I enjoy, but the combination in these proportions seems off. Medium-full bodied, creamy and sticky, soft carbonation, bitter finish.

Had this many times, just getting around to rating it now. 12oz bottle my wife actually got at a Christmas beer exchange. Pours a hazy, burnt orange with some lacing white head. Nose is spot on, malty, honey, orange, pine, candle wax, almost a little cinnamon stick, hints of grapefruit. Flavor is also right on the money, malty, a touch of black pepper, some distinct rye, some mild brown sugar, hints of caramel, orange, lemon, grapefruit, pine, all blending well together. Full bodied but dry finish. Spicy, zesty, refreshing. There’s a reason this beer is a standard bearer.

Bottle poured into snifter. Appearance is dark brown, caramel. No head to speak of. Aroma of sugars, marmalade, orange peel, citrus. A full taste, with massive hop bitterness, hints of orange and citrussy zing. Very long, bitter finish, deep and full flavoured. A very nice IPA.

Another classic from Bear Republic. The rye is not overpowering but adds a unique character.

Like a rye whiskey, this rye ale has a razor sharp grain-laden bite that’s both distinguishing and tasty. Out of the bottle, it has all the hop aroma of a traditional IPA. The malt balances out the hop bitterness until the very back end of the finish. Enjoyed from a 12-oz bottle.

Bomber, Clear deep red copper, fading foamy tan head. Citrus pine hop aroma. Stronger roasted sweet caramel malt taste, citrus pine hop, some spicy rye. Average carbonation, medium-full body, more aggressively hopped. Clean bitter citrus finish. A gooder, but still: DNFL (Definitely Not For Lagerboys)
