Rictus (126), Camdenton, Missouri, USA Aug 27, 2007 Hoppy smell. Pretty dark amber with a quickly disappearing head. Lots of bubbles. Very soft bitter taste. Very dry bitter finish. All around soft and pleasant. Mouthfeel is moderately thick and averagely carbonated.
malrubius (459), USA Oct 12, 2008 Tap @ Cherry Tree, though I’ve had this excellent beer many times but have not rated it yet. Reddish amber with lasting head and lotsa lace. Mild brown sugar sweetness with complex spicy fruitiness and bracing hop bitterness. Spiciness of the rye blends perfectly with the hoppy profile. Medium-full body. Not only and excellent IPA, but also a little different from the others. xpimptastikx (24), Austin, Texas, USA Oct 10, 2008 Pours a dark copper, even when held to light. Nice lasting off white head with lacing. Slightly sweet and awfully bitter. Tastes of fresh hops with a good sweet after tone. It takes a hop head to appreciate this IPA. JohnQPublic (201), Brooklyn, New York, USA Oct 9, 2008 Draught. Pours a dark copper, with a pillowy off-white head and nice lacing. Nose is nice, sweet rye, spicy, with a piny hop note that meshes with the spicy rye perfectly. Taste begins with a nice, sweet caramel malt body, complemented by rye notes, with a resiny hops making an appearance early and for the duration of the beer. Rye comes out a bit more on the long finish, which is bitter and spicy, but balanced by the last hints of the rye and caramel sweetness. Mouthfeel is superb, full and with a very restrained carbonation. mwelsh13 (193), Maryland, USA Oct 8, 2008 16 oz draft at Frisco Grille poured medium copper color with a white head. Nice grassy and herbal hop aroma. Slightly sweet body, dry mouthfeel with a nice snappy hops bite. Good beer! Even better than in the bottle. AndrewKScott (412), Lemont, Illinois, USA Oct 8, 2008 Pours amber with a very fluffy off-white head. Spicey, hoppy aroma, that’s crisp and citrusy. Flavor begins with some light citrus before a bitter assault of hops, some oakiness. The rye really comes out at the finish. Also some alcohol, but not much. Awesome.
