Sampled at City Beer. Pours deep amber brown. Big on hops but not to an extreme. Really smooth drink. Quality malts. Very good brew.

Growler. Pours a slightly hazy orange with a thick white head. Aroma of sweet caramel malt, citrus, hop oils. Flavor of caramel malt, bready malt, bitter and citrus hops in the finish. Light for a IIPA, although the mouthfeel is slightly sticky. A tasty IIPA from Bear Republic. 7/4/8/4/14 [3.7/5]

Pours dark amber with a thin cream head. Sweet citrus and floral nose. Flavor goes sweet as well with caramel malt added to the citrus and dry earthy hops. Dry moderate bitter finish.

On cask @ Toronado. Pour was a cloudy orange-yellow color with a thick white soapy head. The aroma had a piney quality but was not overly intense and a defined grainy note. The taste was smooth with much of the hop flavor coming on the back end. A nice DIPA that doesn’t try and overwhelm with the high alpha hops.

On tap at Barleys Smokehouse. Clear gold pour with a medium off-white head. Nose is equally malt and hop. Some dank earthy hops and sweet malt. Sweet and somewhat boozy flavor with a bitter earthy finish.

Cask at Toronado. Red-amber color with a medium, frothy head. Spicy and earthy hop aorma with a touch of citrus and some sweet malt. Earthy and a bit rough in flavor with a medium sweetness and light caramel. Some bread crust as well. Medium-high bitterness. Not really the kind of DIPA that I can get into.

On tap at Stone 14th VIP Session

Appearance: Pours an orange amber ,translucent yet cloudy, with only a thin film of white for head.

Aroma: Grapefruit and pine resin.

Taste: Piney hops, melon, and grapefruit. Lasting bitterness on the finish.

Mouthfeel: A tad astringent, prickly carbonation.

Overall: Another enjoyable hoppy beer from Bear Republic.

(Old BA rate - tap) Copper brown in color with a thick slightly off-white head with solid retention. More of a flowery hop aroma with some good maltiness. Straight hop bitterness and very much aligned with the aroma in the flower and malts. I got some degree of a funky aftertaste, and not sure if it was just the sample that I had. Viscous and slightly creamy. Pretty nice, but not necessarily what I was looking for. This was more of a sipper than the Apex from BR, but still pretty drinkable. Overall, this was a great brew, but nothing in comparison to Apex

Draft at Craft. Hazy golden pour with 1-finger off-white clingy head. Nose is piney hops, citrus, tropical fruit, black pepper. Has a dense, very complex palate that inundates you with piney hops, citrus, tropical fruit, and spicy peppery notes. Very well balanced with a hefty malt bill and very complex, this one is stellar.
