Inspired by Northern California’s brewing history, this California Bitter is as inviting as the Redwoods. Smooth and drinkable, this ale has a well rounded malt character accented by Cascade and Centennial Dry Hops.

Poured a slightly-hazed orange with a nice white head and pretty good lacing as it went down. Smell was very nice with a lot of sweet malt alongside some citrus hops. Taste was a little more subdued than the aroma, with the malt coming through more than the hops, which was somewhat of a disappointment knowing BR’s penchant for lovely hoppy beers. Medium bodied with good carbonation, and pretty nice drinkability. Serving type: on-tap Reviewed on: 02-16-2010

On tap at the Hopyard. Want a sessionable beer that actually tastes like something? This is your beer! At only 4.8%. this beer borders on the IPA taste scale in terms of hops. Pours a clear brown with white head. Not very carbonated - but definitely not oxidized. Aroma is slightly fruity and grassy. For a bitter, this has some good hop florals. The flavor is a nice bitter with fruity notes in between the breadyness of the malt.

Tap at Capones. Damn- thought this was an IPA- shit is nice and hoppy. Pours a lightly hazy copper with a nice massive frothy cloud-like head. Aroma is citrus, pine and orange-zest hops and a light caramel and toasty malt. Flavor seems bigger than the 4.6% but still is so easy to drink- citrus hops, resinous, light toast, toffee, and ok caramel- very nice hops all the way through and a very clean finish. Nice.

[Draft @ Capones] Poured a lightly hazy amber color with a small, off white head that left nice lacing on the glass. Aroma of floral hops, citrus, toast, pine, and toffee. Taste of citrus fruits, piney resin, toasted malts, sweeter toffee, and a dry, bitter finish.

Tap at Capones. Pours a lightly hazy golden amber with a medium creamy off white head that left great lacing. Aroma of citrus zest, floral, perfume, light bready malt and some various fruity notes. Flavor of a handful of floral and citrusy hops, moderate hop bitterness, dry and crisp, bready malt and some light pine.

On-tap at PP C’Bad. Pours slightly hazy amber with a moderate sized white head and good lace. Smells sweet and sugary malty, slightly sweet, fruity and hop spicy. Tastes sweet and malty, slightly cereal, slight hop red fruitiness. Very tasty for a low alcohol brew. Medium body, good carbonation.

Draft in pint glass. Citrus and piney aromas with a nice malty sweetness. Pale yellowish with a brown tint, hazy, white head. Taste of medium malts, very light carmel, with citrus and pine. Medium to light body with a medium thin texture and carbonation. Great bitter finish. Very drinkable.
