Mostly black pour, nose of roast malts, choc. and coffee. Tastes roasty w/ dry chocolate, and generally stouty, but seriously lacking in body. Maybe there’s too much hop going on here, not enough dark malt, I dunno...it’s just much too watery and light in flavor, and generally disappointing.

Roasty on the nose w/ hints of coffee, wood, and a slight dark fruit sweetness. This beer poured black w/ brown hues, a light brown head and slight lacing. The flavor was roasty and oaty w/ hints of coffee and wood. The mouthfeel was creamy w/ a well-rounded medium body.

(Draft: O’Brien’s in San Diego, CA) Another new beer on Bear Republic Night at O’Brien’s. The flavor is quite light for a stout, though the characteristics are there. Mildly roasty, lightly sweet, some oat, lightly sour, but I fail to detect much if any wheat flavor through the roastiness. Modest oat nose, lightly roasty, not much sweetness, mild sourness. Medium bodied, but lighter on the palate than I’d like from this style of beer. Very dark brown color that’s nearly opaque. Dark tan head is about half an inch in height, and in the time it took for me to write the beer’s name on my notepad (i.e., my coaster), the head was nothing but a tiny island of film. Wow, gone in the near blink of an eye.

Poursa deep opaque brownish blcak with a small tan head. Aromas of roasted malt, a hint of flowers. Mouthfeel is medium bodied with flavors of roasted malt, coffee, a hint of chocolate and not much wheat.

This stout pours with a black body topped by a medium thick, off-white head with some lacing. The aroma is slightly roasty and bitter with a slight sour note and a little sweetness. The flavor is slightly sweet and roasty with a slight sour note and a touch of bitterness in the finish. A little thin for a stout, smooth and dry in the finish.
