From tap at Toronado, Barley Wine Fest 2010. Pours hazy dark brown with a small white head. Aroma is solid overripe fruity and wooden. Dry malty accent. Fruity and light estery. Cherry like in flavour. Dry hoppy and fruity into the finish.

Draught at The Ginger Man, NYC. Hazy copper/ ruby beer with a decent beige head. Malty caramel aroma, fruity, figs, biscuits, some toffee, resin notes. Malty fruity flavor, onion notes, caramel, resiny hops. A bit unclean.

Copper pour with a nice white head. Lots of dark fruit on the nose. Caramel, sherry, brown sugar, and oxidation. Some apple, dates, raisins, and a hint of alcohol. There’s a touch of cardboard and grass to the flavor. Brown sugar, sherry, caramel, and lots of date and raisin. Some apple, a bit of citrus peel, and a bitter pine and woody herb note.

Tap at Capitol Beer in Sacramento, CA. Pours translucent copper with a white head. Aroma is fruit/spice. Full bodied. Flavor is amazing. Fruit. Decent caramel. Light vanilla. Hints of spice. Heat is barely detectable. It is lightly sweet. It is very flavorful. Everything is well blended - hard to dissect. Lovely.

On tap @ Boulder Strong Ale Fest poured a clear copper with a minimal lingering ring of amber foam. Aromas of carmel, fruittiness and a hint of spice. Palate was light to medium bodied and crisp with a dry finish. Flavors of carmel and light fruittiness with a dry bittersweet finish.

Draft - Vintage 2008 - Vinous, sweet caramel and some oak. Cloudy orange with a rich head. Cotton candy, caramel malts, hoppy bitterness and a slight boozy burn. Great aroma, but for the age still a bit edgy.

Draught at 6th Boulder Strong Ale Festival. Pours clear amber with a small, fizzy, white head, diminishing with fair lacing. Aroma is average malt (hay, straw, grain, meal), heavy hops (flowers, perfume, grass), average yeast (sweat, barnyard) with notes of alcohol, apple, and pear. Medium bodied, creamy texture, average carbonation, and a bitter finish. Long duration, moderate sweetness, acidity, and bitterness.

On tap at the 2008 Strong Ale Festival. Listed as being aged 6 months in a Cabernet Barrel. Poured a medium to deeper golden - amber, lightly hazy, with a small sized white head. Aromas of wood, -sweaty-, some funkiness, and caramel. Tastes of wood, fruity, and caramel. I really did not get any of the Cabernet in this, which I was looking forward to.
