Draft at Blind Tiger. Poured a hazy dark orange/brown color. The head was sticky, off white, and left some lace behind. Rich aromas of raisin, molasses, fig, and caramel. There was also a whiff of steeping malted barley. Medium to full bodied with moderate bitterness and plenty of alcohol warmth and flavor. Fairly sweet with fig and dark caramel notes. The sugars were tempered somewhat by earthy black tea and bitter citrus rind. Solid barley wine.

Tap at Bear Republic, Healdsburg. Colour is cloudy light brown with small white head. Aromas and flavours: Fruits, sweetness, hops and malts. Not massive but very drinkable.

Had on draft at the brewery. Big resin aroma, thick and chewy malts, warmimg, very rich malty character, fruity, very nice. Solid beer.

Copper pour with a nice white head. Lots of dark fruit on the nose. Caramel, sherry, brown sugar, and oxidation. Some apple, dates, raisins, and a hint of alcohol. There’s a touch of cardboard and grass to the flavor. Brown sugar, sherry, caramel, and lots of date and raisin. Some apple, a bit of citrus peel, and a bitter pine and woody herb note.

(Draught 2010 vintage) clear rich caramel, very little head. Nose is oxidized, caramel, American hops, bit of urinal cake, pine. Taste of caramel, very hoppy, sweet and malty, syrupy, thick body, resiny.

Draught at Rattle ’N’ Hum, NYC. June 2. Pours a murky copper with a small diminishing creamy white head and lots of lacing on the glass. Nice aroma is fruity and hoppy along with caramel malt and bit of spice. Flavour, again is fruity and hoppy along with caramel malt and alcohol. Nice bitter finish. Medium bodied. Great stuff, an easy to drink version of the style.

Tap in flight @ RnH w Andy and Dubra. Pours light caramel color with very little head. Light-bodied barleywine with subtle notes of fruit and booze. Not bold at all, fits very well within the style.

Draft at Rattle with Linh. Pours a hazed out orange body with one finger white, frothy head. Aroma is booze, dark fruit and pine. Mouthfeel is medium and carbonated with notes of pine hop, sweet barley, light booze, lemon, and sweet fruity malts.

On tap. Pours with a muddy orange hued body with a lasting white head that leaves great lace. Aromas are of tea, caramel, faded citrusy hops (orange), marmalade, alcohol, lots of esters. Maybe a slight savory note. Flavors are complex, brandy, caramel, dark fruits, orange, estery, balancing alcohol, malty, drinkable big barleywine with a high bitterness. Lower carbonation, fuller bodied, warming. Tasty malt complexity with a lot of (somewhat faded) hops.
