On tap at Toronado for Barleywine fest ’09. Reddish-brown color with a considerable beige head. Sweet malty aroma along with alcohol and some piney hops. Flavor is sweet malt, starfruit, sour light fruits, wood, piney hops, and alcohol. Fairly full palate. A strong one.

Tap at Rattle N Hum. Deep amber-ruby beer. Thick sticky head. Aroma is lightly sweet with a heavy sweet caramel aroma. Quite hoppy and chewy with a lot of piny resinous hop character. Light sweet fruitiness as well. Slightly vineous along with a light cherry flavour. The body is very rich and full and it doesn’t seem to fall out in the middle like the barrel-aged version does. Could use a few years, but it’s still drinking pretty well. A bit of booze on the back.

On tap @ Rattle n Hum. Reddish amber with lasting head and lace. Sherry brown sugar alcohol aroma. Very fruity brown sugar port alcohol flavors. Sticky alcohol mouthfeel. Very strong tasting in the alcohol dept and somewhat astingent bitterness. Not as bad as, say, Brooklyn Monster, but still a challenge to drink.

English snow taffey and apricot in the nose. Bright auburn with no head. Flavor had resinous hops, tart unripe peaches and boose. A bit heavy and not impressive.

On tap at the 2008 Strong Ale Festival. Listed as being aged 6 months in a Cabernet Barrel. Poured a medium to deeper golden - amber, lightly hazy, with a small sized white head. Aromas of wood, -sweaty-, some funkiness, and caramel. Tastes of wood, fruity, and caramel. I really did not get any of the Cabernet in this, which I was looking forward to.

On tap. Poured an amber color with a moderate beige head that receded to a ring. Aroma of caramel malt, some light fruitiness, and earthy hops. Flavor consists of pleasant caramel malts, with some nice spicy fruitiness (apple mainly) and a moderate, earthy hop finish what was slightly bitter. No real alcohol detectable. Full on the palate, nice moderately bitter finish. Pretty solid, good beer.

Draught at 6th Boulder Strong Ale Festival. Pours clear amber with a small, fizzy, white head, diminishing with fair lacing. Aroma is average malt (hay, straw, grain, meal), heavy hops (flowers, perfume, grass), average yeast (sweat, barnyard) with notes of alcohol, apple, and pear. Medium bodied, creamy texture, average carbonation, and a bitter finish. Long duration, moderate sweetness, acidity, and bitterness.
