Draught at Blind Tiger. Dark cloudy amber to brown with small head. Aroma is boozy molasses, pecan pie, caramelized brown sugar, booze. Taste is sweet molasses, pecan/other nuttiness, lots of sugars. Oily palate, molasses booze lingers on tongue, light burn down throat. Good but a little too sweet.

Draft at Brass Rail. Honey color. Not as much aroma as I was hoping for. Light fruit, caramel. Light sweetness. Creamy texture. Some warming alcohol. Nice balance of malts and hops. Would get again. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Not a very complex beer. Very sweet and pale malt forward. No notice of roasted malts. Some biscuity and white fruit notes. Citric acid and big hop resin with soft bitterness, Hops seem to be concentrated in the fermenter or hopback. Sweetness is forward at the finish with only mild bittering.

glkaiser (1214) - Seattle, Washington, USA - JAN 2, 2010
Pours amber with big, thick head that doesn’t stick around too long. It is very nicely balanced, with flavors of sweet caramel, resinous citrus hops, fruity esters, and a balancing bitterness. Very little alcohol presence. Nice and smooth for such a big beer.

Not a very good BW. Clashing sweetness and bitterness - they don’t synergize and make for a good beer. Brown with not much head. Not much in the nose. Sweetness is cloying, the bitterness, obnoxious and offensive.

Pours a burnt orange color. aroma of grapes, toffee, and caramel. Big caramel, bitter pine, and brown sugar in the flavor. Finishes with grapefruit and char. I had hopes for this, but it suffers from a complete lack of finesse, though no one thing was really bad about it.

On tap. Poured an amber color with a moderate beige head that receded to a ring. Aroma of caramel malt, some light fruitiness, and earthy hops. Flavor consists of pleasant caramel malts, with some nice spicy fruitiness (apple mainly) and a moderate, earthy hop finish what was slightly bitter. No real alcohol detectable. Full on the palate, nice moderately bitter finish. Pretty solid, good beer.

Aromas of pineapple, caramel, black pepper. Bright amber with lasting khaki head. a little flat and light in the mouth. Very grapefruit flavor, bordering on harsh, a little malt behind it, alcohol. bitter finish.

Aroma of molasses funk, amber malts and maple syrup. Appears a dark crimson/amber with a thin foam rim. Taste is syrupy amber malts, cinnamon, toffee, biscuit malts, and some hop presence. Finish is very boozey. Overall, this is very balanced and complex. I’d give this an A rating.

On tap @ Bear Republic. Pours dark amber copper with very thin white head. Aroma is sweet boozy malt; raisins, port, and oak on the back. Taste is big heavy caramel malt, dry and oaky on the finish. Bitterness is restrained and easy drinking relative to the big abv here.
