4.7 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
Bottle from Rehills, Newcastle. This is an extremely dark red-brown beer. It has red currant and rich deep red fruit flavours, slight roasted notes and marzipan and orange marmalade on the finish. This is a cross between an brown ale and a Barley Wine. Superb!

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Pour on tap at the Local Peasant, dark brownish red pour with white head, aroma brought notes of some grain, chocolate, nice slight grass, into a touch of caramel, toffee, burnt sugars, some nutty notes as well. Taste is a mix of dark red fruits, some caramel, toffee, slight nuts, cocoa powder, finishing slightly bitter, dry. Pretty tasty.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Chilled bottle. Pours a dark red/brown with a fluffy white head. Smell is interesting - caramel, spice, yeast. Flavour is more of the same - mild caramel, faint raisins, liquroice and fudge. Reminiscent of some of the De Molen beers I’ve had, but the taste is a bit watery and toned down by comparison. Mouthfeel is foamy. OK, drinkable.

22oz bomber. Pours dark with a thin head. Nutty chocolate toasty aromas. Not much hop but its an older bottle. Good flavors. Would but again. Need a fresher bottle to taste more hops.

Bottled (from Ales By Mail). Ambery brown colour, mediumsized beige fluffy/creamy head which leaves good lace. Aroma is chocolate, wood, some bready and toffeeish malts along with some citrus and herbal notes. Flavour is toffee, nuts, some chocolate, mild wood, resin and some earthy and herbal notes. Nice fruity and chocolaty aftertaste with also some mild notes of nuts.

Pours a dark brown reddish color, with a small dissipating head. Nose is malty and sweet. Taste is sweet and malty with light hints of chocolate. Finishes sweetly, and drinks rather easily. Solid enjoyable brown ale. Quaff Score 7 / 10
