Clear dark brown color with a small to average, frothy, good lacing, mostly lasting, off-white head. Aroma is moderate to heavy malty, roasted, caramel, chocolate, vanilla, smoke notes. Flavor is moderate to heavy sweet and bitter with a average to long duration. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft. [20110409]

A hazy amber beer with a chocolate brown head. The aroma is very slight - what is there is of alcohol. The flavor is sweet malty and dry hoppy - simple but good.

From bottle, blind tasting at Papsoes - beer no 3. Pours amber brown, seems clear, with a diminished off-white head. Mild liqourice and citrus/grapefruity aroma. Soft caramel malt base, promising some sweetness. Flavour is rather dry with a herbal hops flavour and a mild liqourice edge. Ends with a dry and slight fruity bitterness.

(Bottle 65 cl) Courtesy of MaltOMeal. Clear, orangey brown with a creamy, beige head. Fresh and fruity nose with a whiff of quality aroma hops. Medium body with plenty of roasted malts and a lightly burned edge and some fruity accents. Subdued bitterness. Nice and quaffable. 021107

Bottled (from Ales By Mail). Ambery brown colour, mediumsized beige fluffy/creamy head which leaves good lace. Aroma is chocolate, wood, some bready and toffeeish malts along with some citrus and herbal notes. Flavour is toffee, nuts, some chocolate, mild wood, resin and some earthy and herbal notes. Nice fruity and chocolaty aftertaste with also some mild notes of nuts.

Bottled, from Spokane, WA. Mahogany colour, rich firm head. Mild grapefruity nose with salty caramel underneath. Dryish with above medium body and rounded mouthfeel. The mild hoppiness combine well with the roasty malt. Te mluthfeel feels vital and solid. Finishes with balanced bitterness and notes of licorice. Bear Republic always delivers.

2007-11-02, Papsoe Blind Tasting
Dark amber color, with red shades. The aroma is quite nice, with some caramel and chocolate, light hops too. The mouthfeel is quite dry, with a strong caramel flavor, ending with a quite strong bitterness. Not bad, but close to be boring.
